What does this have to do with anything? Unless you're not referring to his height, but in that case I have to wonder how you know.

what do you eat in races? i'm starting to think the clif bars are causing my strangely frequent vomiting. gels work but they're too expensive for me to use regularly. thanks.

My secret magical elixir is Gatorade during (from powder, no HFCS ) a longer ride/race, Nature Valley Granola Bars during, and skim chocolate milk after.

Generally just water and then chocolate milk though. I love the Nature Valley bars, they taste the same at 120 degrees as they do at 0 degrees, and they're still chewable way below freezing since there's little/no water in them.

man it's good to be young.

What seemed to be a pretty bad crash with a very painful right leg and limping around on Friday.

60 minutes on the road bike today and everything felt fine.

That is excellent! If you're at all familiar with Piuma, after the peak there's the 1-2 mile descent before you hit Sheuren. All that's been repaved, and while I don't know the physics involved, it's now screaming fast instead of just fast. Less friction on the tires I'm guessing. Total thrill ride. I suppose all of Piuma is also a thrill ride going down now with the resurfacing.

Latigo is pretty bad. It needs a new face.

Gary had some bad luck at today's race. There was a weird split in the field that caught a lot of guys out.

Try hammer nutritions bars. Seriously. I really like them. More so than clif bars, actually.

how are those crappy packaged bars any different than clif bars or similar bars? I think a lot of people eat clif bars because they are quick easy and convenient, not because they think it is magic.

most likely, a hell a lot cheaper. a clif bar cost $1 for ~250 calories, fruit bars or granola bars cost 6 for $2, with each bar about 120 kcals.

peanut butter sandwiches are even cheaper

I buy Nature Valley granola bars in bulk from Amazon, $15 for a 36 "bars" (two bars per pack, so really 72 individual bars, but 36 wrappers). works out around 500 calories/dollar. Not bad for healthy food.
