There really isn't any such thing. It is not really coffee.

This should be on the SAT Verbal (or whatever they call it now) exam: Instant is to Coffee as White is to:

(a) Chocolate (the correct answer)

(b) Rice

(c) E. B.

(d) Red and Blue

I have a 15 year old son. In my driveway is a car that severely overheated and has warped heads. I told him that I would pay for parts and machining if he tore the engine apart and rebuilt it. When he was done it would be his. I have a feeling that he will get interested in this project next summer.

That would have been awesome. I would've enjoyed ripping it apart and putting it back together, and getting to drive it at the end would be icing on the cake. And motivation to get through the parts that take 6x as long as you think they should.

I'm not sure I understand the distinction of moving something to trollheim vs moving it to foo.

I bought him a 94 (birth year) mustang that has had a pretty rough life but stops and goes.

I pushed home a 65 bug when i was 15 and spent the next 2 years getting it to run and keeping it running and loved every minute. My sons not like that though. I decided to buy him a solid car and if he learns a little by helping me with its periodic maintenance and addressing its small issues (worn suspension) then I'll consider it a success.

I guess the way to rebel against your punk rock/skater/ vw gearhead dad is to like school, play varsity hockey and shop at ambercrombie.

I was telling a friend of mine earlier today how much I miss those days. Just throwing your board in the car and going and skating a ramp, a bank, or whatever for hours on end...those were the days. And it was free. Except the beer. Up until a few yrs ago Id still go skate a park once in a while. Good times.

With a few exceptions, Generation Y is all screwed up. I read an article recently saying the recession has helped straighten out their sense of entitlement, but I figure based on looking around at some of the Gen Y's on campus, the article's a bunch of hoo ha.

I too work on a privileged campus. It's hard not to think every kid out there is like this, but as far as I can tell old people have been complaining about the decline of the younger generations since the dawn of time.

We got a group called the St Louis Old Man Skate Cartel. All old guys who still meet up to ride just for fun. Some of them I used to skate with in 85. In the summer there's sessions a few nights a week; pools, mini's, parking garages. Its a blast, but I dont get to ride much anymore (because I'm usually pedaling a bike).
