Back from a short memorial ride for my friend Gayle. Rode from shop to her house and back. Her neighbors knew we were coming and came outside and applauded and photographed.
Simple, nice and touching.

Will be uploading a clip of one of the bands in my helmet cam clips. URT "Deepest Knife", last performance, 2002, Chicago. I hope this is one of three clips I can get out of a 3 hour show.
If I ever complain about not having time, it's all these clips. This one was "done" just after Christmas, an inspirational present to the brother in the band. "Done" meant another 2 weeks of editing, almost daily, before it's good enough to go up on YouTube.
Irritating thing is that on iMovie it's in sync. When I watch it in Quicktime it's not. I imagine YouTube will be worse.
Watching some of my old clips, I really need to redo them. Hone them as they're 'just' 10 hour efforts.

American football isn't my thing but I suppose I should pull for the local team. When I looked out of my window last night the Empire State building looked nice in green and white. I can't help but take a shot at pcad and his Mets, as a Yankees fan it is my duty.

Hey botto, no snow in mokum?
It's a little ridiculous here in the Northeast. Minus 7 here last night. The coldest I've ever even seen it here is minus 12 or so.

Heartstopping moment this morning cruising in a pack of at least 30 riders, I'm near the front, right side. A small gap in front of me is suddenly occupied by a dog and there's nowhere to go. I didn't know what else to do so I screamed at him and he did a quick about face and went back up on the curb. Scared the crap out of me, could have been a huge pile-up.

Two friends have been stopped in CP this weekend and were ticketed for running red lights. I'm gonna go tempt fate and see what i get

Back from a nice ride. 90 minutes. The weatherman lied, as usual. 45* my ass, it was more like 35 out there.
The city road crews managed to patch a spot that I ride over almost every ride, and they made it worse. It used to be a slight dip (maybe 4" deep) with smooth entry and exit. It was actually kinda fun because I could pump the bike out of it and get another mph.
They replaced it with a 4 foot wide slab of asphalt that sticks 3" above the road. Instead of making a nice smooth entry and exit, they just left it flat faced. So now I have to bunny hop or risk a puncture.
What idiot would think that that was an improvement? 3" high slabs of asphalt aren't exactly good for cars either, and there are so many worse things in that area that they could have patched, but they chose the one that wasn't actually harming anything.

You missed a good one. There weren't any successful breaks courtesy of the tailwind from the Lake City Airport. ~40 of us came screaming down Millhopper road together, thankfully the sprint was tame as everyone behaved.

just cracked one of my plates. I guess it's too cold in here and I put hot rice on it and it just cracked all the way down the middle.
I didn't even know that was possible....

like pcad said, don't tempt fate because if they're out to catch people then CP is like shooting fish in a barrel and with a much smaller amount of riders out in this weather you'll be an easy target.
