I think the personal check is just gone if I back out for any reason. I originally offered $100 to them, and $1400 to the escrow. I decided to split it $500 to them, $1000 to escrow and they accepted. I sign the stuff tomorrow to actually make it official.

I'm surprised they accepted, actually. It was my initial offer, and it was $11500 below asking. They accepted without a (real) counter.

There's the house for anyone interested.

Wow, FB! That would be $500K here, maybe $750K in the Bay Area. Well done.

What are the two things we've been told to steer away from in social situations?

1) Politics
2) Religion

I consider the 33 a social outlet.
Back to racing, training and ***.

You have too high an expectation for this place

i could do without the P&R talk. Though most on here, i assume, will be preaching to the choir.

Want to talk about food? Look at the distances to a grocery store in poor neighborhoods vs rich ones, esp in cities as opposed to proximity to fast food type places.

We're selling contracts in schools to people like coca cola and pepsi co. They have a duty to their shareholders. The kids drinking soda and eating a snickers for lunch every day just increases their bottom line. And I don't really blame the districts. They've had so much funding cut that they need it to function. They're doing the best they can. Sadly, it's far from good enough, even for gov't work.

The people supposed to be helping make decisions to guide people to make good choices have their hands in someone else's pockets. At the end of the day, it's easier to blame the individual because you can see someone buying a candy bar while the rest stays more hidden.

Self destructive behavior is another thing. Keep cutting funding and social support structures for those that need it just vanishes.

Fact is we've got to look in a mirror and ask ourselves as country if we're okay with this direction. The sheep just keep eating the tainted grass they're being fed.
Straw man argument about school lunches. This does not happen, at least in CA. You'd be more likely to find a cigarette machine in a school than a soda or candy machine. It's not that the school meals are all that great, but the only pre-packaged things they turn out is PB&J sandwiches (Uncrustables suck, BTW). The vast majority of the time my kids get a packed lunch, but at times they get the school lunch. It's not all that bad and fine in the context of their entire diets.

Stores are put where they make money. Funny thing, that.

That reminds me, I'm reading a book called Unearthing the Bible.

Good read if you are interested in the archaeological context of the Old Testament.

In the process of redoing our kitchen. While not as fancy as some ranges, I bought an LG with a double oven I really liked. Dishwasher guy came to do the install today and we discovered this

So what does gsteinb do now?
And meditating will not open the dishwasher door.
Medicating might help though.
