im a firm believer that w/kg are only relevant once your on a climb that's long enough that the fat dudes can't just zip up at z6 (or when u hit a climb at 30 mph, and keep it going at a high speed,). PLus being fat is fun. lots of raw power (i.e. 10 w/kg for a mminute and `~18.3 w/kg for 5 seconds).

err...you do realize that you reference being fat (absolute) then quoted relative #s, right? one can be skinny and have high 5" and 1' w/kg ratios.

I'll be there! This is my first year doing Battenkill, though I have been to every race since it started. I live right on the course in Cambridge, so it has always had my attention. I just started road biking last year, and after a fun summer, was offered a spot on a team. Second Johnny Cakes this weekend, then the TOB next weekend...can't wait!

I live nearby. WTF as in my god, will this winter never end. We got a couple of sunny days, I put my XC skis in the attic and put the screens on the windows.

Shrug. The gunks are closer to NYC than the Champlain valley. There's snow on Whiteface nearly to memorial day. The valley is sandwiched between the high peaks and VT. April snow in the region is pretty common place.

Weather looks pretty decent to me. 50 degrees and 30% chance on Saturday. The rain Friday should firm up the dirt too.

people want a 'hard-man's race' then worry about the weather going south? not sure about the accuracy of forecasts in that region; could be much ado about nothing.

or, it could be absolutely miserable but those who signed up are making a conscious choice -- it's a choice to embrace it.
