OK, so you have not raced on the road. A newly minted Cat5. Read botto's sticky on the progression. Read the training sticky. Don't overthink things. Get a one-day license and try a race after some group rides. If you like it, get a license and get on it.

Read the sticky long time ago. Thanks for the advice. I started reading the training sticky last night.

Got home, and 4" or so of tire is unseated with the tube just about to blow out.

The tires are Zipps also. They mounted surprisingly easy, and were a loose fit to start.

Nothing appears wrong with the rim bead.

It had been sitting on the trainer with not much air in it prior to this ride.

My hope is that sitting on the trainer block got the tire unseated, and I didn't notice when I added air, and there's nothing wrong with the wheel.

I may change tires just for piece of mind anyway.
When I crashed a month ago, my front tire bead un-seated (carbon clinchers). I thought it was out of true as well. I let out all the air, wiggled the tire onto the rim, and pumped it back up. No issues since then.

Weird, revchuck. Commentate may not be a common word in American, but it is very common and perfectly acceptable in English. It's a verb. I commentate, you commentate, he she or it commentates, he is a commentator....

Fun week. Esophagus manometry, EGD, and a Bravo PH test. Polyps in my stomach. Erosion at my Lower esophageal sphincter. PH test showing swings in my esophagus from .7 to 9.2.

Lets just call this the season that never was and never will be. Biopsy results in about 10 days. Probably benign but one looked 'red and irritated'. It was fully removed.

Don't take Proton Pump Inhibitors for years kids, mmmkay? And if you have acid reflux don't wait 25 years to see a GI doc.

Not Barrett's -- at least not diagnosed as that visually. The PPIs can cause Fundic Polyps. Possible H Pylori infection as well. The pH swing points to bile reflux on top of acid reflux. Won't really know anything for a few weeks. I've had stomach issues for years though. Shoulda seen a doc sooner. Grrrr.

They are never benign, and should be carefully observed and treated with caution.

It's a secret plot to use up our syllables, so we run low when we really need them. That's why the U.N. and the guys in the black helicopters are tricking people into saying "irregardless" and "orientated".

Without dieting but with tons of training I got to 175-180; I couldn't get below that in 6 years of training/racing. Dieting got me to 155, and that was in one winter.

I'm going to say that unless the rider is 15 years old time isn't a big deal. Write off this year to learning. Hit it next year.

I'm in a similar but not quite as aggressive position. I'm in the low-mid 170s and I'd like to be 160. I'm already thinking 2014 and not worried about results and such this year. If this summer goes well and I'm close to 160 towards the end of the summer then I'll see if I can get down to 155 or lower for 2014.d
Figured you'd say that. I'm 6 feet and with a large build, so my lowest weight I'd aim for is probably 180. Especially since I'm never going to be skinny enough to really be a climber, and I live near a track. I think for now I'm gonna just try to eat a little less, ride a little more, and see where it gets me. My legs are coming around nicely.

I'm probably gonna keep racing at the track, even though I'm not getting any results at the moment. It teaches me to suffer, which helps my training, and it gives me something to aim for. I enjoy the competition, so if I have competition then it helps me when I'm training to think about pushing through the pain to get stronger.

I mean, my friend thinks all those things.

race starts at 1:40 pm tomorrow and should last until ~5. forecast for 2 pm says 36 and raining, dropping to 32 and snowing by 5 pm.

not sure i've ever wanted a race to be canceled this badly, but i know it won't be. i can HTFU if it's 45 and raining, but 35...jeez.

The Missus even said (on camera no less - she didn't realize that someone had a camcorder going) "How did you even fit in this thing????" while trying to pin a number on my size L jacket, super snug on my well insulated torso. I think I lasted 4 minutes in that race.
