Rode to the top of Mt. Diablo to watch the ToC. Bummer they closed it with 2km to go... that's when it starts to get good. First real ride in weeks. Ribs still hurt, but I'm starting the slow ramp to get my fitness back. As soon as the road pitched up, the guys I was riding with just got further and further away. Oh well, it was a really awesome day.

Eh, my coach was having me do 3-4hr rides the day before all the bethels and johnny cakes, plus extra volume before and after the races. Seems to help in the long run.

Using my inhaler on almost every ride. Time to talk with a pulmonary doc.
Yesterday a ride into Denver where I ran into teammates and rode with them for a bit. Encountered a squeaky as hell wheelsucker on the way down and rode him off of my wheel straight into an asthma attack.
Today intervals between rain storms.

Lots. I may end up regretting it. We'll see. If so, I can always do something different next week. But maybe I won't regret. I have a history of responding well the day after a really hard ride - my best cyclocross results last season all came the day after getting myself ridden into the ground with fast groups.

Making a kilometer blurry
I think this is the difference. If you're racing then it's one set of possible goals, but if you're using the race to train, it's another set of possible goals. I can see where just getting in the pack, and doing the speed work would be complementary to a tough week of training. Think of it as an expensive group ride.

That is incorrect, but will hopefully soon be correct. My coach seems to know what he's doing though, he's made my endurance days less hard and my hard days harder. I'm certainly riding less ****tily than I have in years, just waiting for the cast to come off so I can get back to business.

Cast comes off the 29th, so I'll be doing the Floyd Grand Fondo for training, then Wilmington-Whiteface the following weekend.
