Finally trying to kick my ass back into training mode, have to start rising early if I'm going to get consistent saddle time. Got out to the Saturday morning hammer ride today. Made the front split = good sign. Got dropped from the front group ~15 miles later = bad sign. So I suck, but not as bad as I feared! Managed some solid time at and over threshold. Wells Ave tomorrow.

3 hour "group" ride today with some guy from work. I rode side by side with him so it was more of a solo ride but hurting from Thursday made this ride more difficult. Before my stupid Quarq magnet fell off when I dropped a chain, I was averaging tempo wattage. Based on my heart rate and effort, I'm pretty sure the rest of the ride was tempo too. 3.5 hrs 61miles with 3300' of climbing.

I got home and my body kinda hurt. New low weight though, 164.4 lbs.

It was FREEZING this morning when I set out...51 degrees !

Had a real pathetic ride yesterday, so I was surprised to have a good strong 5x5 vo2max workout today, about 86-87% of pvo2max, up a few watts from a week ago.

I did these 5 x 5' with 5' recovery. Going by Dr. Coggan's recommendations... this is actually supposed to be 6x5' , I probably should have tried for one more even if I had a few % of drop in power on the final one.

What do you guys think about Whey protein post ride? I even heard some dudes drink it mid ride(not sure if this even makes sense since I always thought carbs is what you want to consume mid ride).

I'm gonna try Whey post ride with water/milk to improve/help recovery.

Thoughts?

This. Protein is also pretty tough to breakdown. I'll do a PB&J or maybe a ham sandwich, but a whey shake would be pretty tough on my stomach I think

yes. i do a protein shake after every ride/race, 30-50g.

protein is key to recovery.

for long (3+ hours), a wee bit of protein can help; perpetuem has some, like 8-10g.

1.5 hours of tempo followed by a group ride that went climbing. Dropped the chain on a downhill and my power meter went out. Now it won't work I dunno wtffffff. Pretty upset >_> gonna try to fix it now.

940 TSS for the week...Legs still feel decent. Might be time to re-test FTP.

Restish week. Only 6 hours. I'm on staycation all next week though and will be putting in a ride almost every day. Ygduf, what day should I come down for the noon ride?

3hr fast paced group ride with some teammates, including the wife. Wasn't sure how the legs would react to the long ride yesterday so I played it safe and limited the time at the front. Overall went pretty well, legs had a bit of punch, but didn't have lasting punch. The wife did pretty well, but got pitched when we hit the rollers. I held back and made sure she was ok....She knows where I sleep and where the sharp instruments are

Managed a whole 6 hours this week, most of it on the weekend. I'll get more in this week. I've been building up.

Haven't spent more than an hour on the bike at a time since last November. Just signed up for two 30 mile MTB races, taking place two and four weeks after I get back from the 'Stan.

Should be a great "Welcome back, mother f***er" experience.
