Did an impromptu 20 minute test, it wasn't pretty. Maybe its just me, but when you can't hit the target pace in the first 3 minutes, things tend to get a bit more lackadaisical. The good thing is my cardio is what kept me down and that can be built back up really quickly.
Ran out of food in my stomach at the end, time - 2:15, 2600 gain, 125 tss, 1000 kjs.

Rest week for me, lots of easy Z1 and Z2 riding. These are the weeks that seem to be the hardest for me. Type A personality always wants to do more!

Easy spin on the trainer while watching Archer then Peter Gunn. Am now full of awesomeness and cool.

didn't know what to do yesterday so I went for fun and reset some times on Strava segments.

exploded my chain 2/3 of the way up a 3 minute hill. 560w for 1:40 at time of failure.

This morning I did 344w (5.1 w/kg) for 5', then 690w for 30", best for me so far this season (since Oct).
The intervals weren't named after any writers or cat 3's, so I'm not sure how much capital they'll really get me in the 33 tho..

That's darn good. The best I've done in that range is 4.9 for 4' (last night on a trainer). I'm around 10.3 for 30". I've really been working the FTP (3.7 )to be in a position to attempt sprinting (around 17.4 for 5") at the end of races. I'm pretty big, so hiding behind others only goes so far.
You can get so much out of positioning & timing. FTP doesn't really gain you that much in crits, considering all the coasting that goes on.
So I don't see any valid excuses, keep trying! =]

Seems to me those numbers are legit, and you should be able to do something with them. I mean I guess you've won crits so you know this..

But yeah, timing and position seems to be paramount. I'll just keep putting myself in the mix or wait for @aaronmcd to upgrade and then just sit on his wheel when he rides off the front.

An hour on the trainer with 30 minutes of Z4. Then 2 hours backcountry XC skiing which was about a million times more fun. Conditions are PERFECT.
I am fairly adventurous on XC skis (more adventurous than skilled, which is sometimes a problem) but there was a set of tracks out there from somebody who is either incredibly ballsy or incredibly stupid (or, maybe, dead). I would follow the tracks for a while then just have to shake my head and go around whatever cliff he/she shot off of, and rejoin the tracks later.
