So I've stumbled on a new training plan by matter of necessity. I used to be able to ride every day of the week if I wanted to, but recently starting school again and moving to a new apartment further from work has really made me have to re-organize my time. I've got it now though.
2.5 hours and 170 TSS on Tuesday,
2-2.5 hours and 150 TSS on Thursday,
4 hours and 250 TSS on Saturday,
3 hours and 150 TSS on Sunday.
Some of the early season races have made me realize that I can't just go out for 60-90 minutes doing a lot of anaerobic work and expect to be comfortable the whole race. I need longer workouts, even if that means fewer days. With this weekly arrangement I go into every session with full tanks, and recovery is built into the Mon, Wed, Fri rest days. Plus, it keeps me sane, less grumpy, and allows time for homework and other stuff. Not only that, but it actually seems easier to get in 12 hours a week with this 4 day schedule than it would to get that same time on a 5 day schedule, with all the real life stuff I have to do. Only risk is if I have to miss a day, it's a big chunk. But it's possible I could reschedule.

Super mellow 100' of fixed gear commuting. Took the long way in, and included a gravel levee road just for the fun and solitude.

1:45 of endurance pace today. It was supposed to be clear (damn you weatherchannel.com), but turned crappy about 15' in. I get SoCal HTFU points for riding in the rain, right? I should probably not talk about it, since most of the country does it all the time. My hands and feet were cold. The hot shower felt good.

After about four whole days of staying in and healing I am almost ready to get back in the saddle. I've already replaced my helmet and was able to get my race wheels setup which I am eager to test out. I won't be able to ride tomorrow because of work but I will on Monday morning. I've never so excited to be able to effortlessly lift my left leg again.

I was thinking about my WRI's from yesterday while riding today. You know, there's something kinda 'nice' about them. Yes, they suck and hurt like hell, but it's a sharp intense pain and then it's over. You don't have the slow burn of trying to get or keep an average. You just go. The number ends up what the number ends up. The first couple will always be better than the last couple. That's the nature of the beast. If you hit a consistent wattage, then you aren't going hard enough on the first ones. There no moderation or pacing crap to deal with, just pedal your freakin' bike. There's something to be said for that.

I did 30/30s again today (yesterday - I don't sleep) and they're officially the worst thing ever. I despise that workout. It's to long for max effort (obviously not) and not enough for rest to have the legs for the next 10 efforts, and then another whole set of that crap. I'm fine on the 5x15" because it's too short for it to really play with your mind. The 30/30s are tough mentally too. Good news though is that I hit my highest sprint speed on the last 15", I probably wasn't going hard enough the rest of the workout but woopee!
I have a 2-3 hour ride saturday and Sunday with 5x5', depending on weather and amount of snow on the roads will determine 3 hours outside, or 2 inside. Then I have a week of endurance rides 3, 2 hour rides, and 2, 3 hour rides. Come on mr. Sun!! That's 12 hours in 6 days, the most I'll have in a week this year! It's going to feel great to get some easy endurance in 2 weeks before race season starts! Also to get a feel for riding on two wheels outside again I'm going to crash first day in a large pack going fast...I just know it.

Went early on my own then met up with the team guys for our mock race. We started with about 30 guys and ended with 6. Of those, I wasn't the strongest (I never will be), but I wasn't the weakest either. Burned a lot of matches, but never really got to the last one. Days like today are fun.

2 hours outside today for first time in a couple months..wow is it nice. I had 5x5 planned but I went out with my dad so it was more of an easy endurance ride. I don't care though because it was wonderful to be back out. Spent most of the ride playing with my garmin 500, there's so much stuff I don't know yet about that thing.
