What kind of compact crank? What BB was it designed for?

best adapter to run a compact crank on a pf30 bb?

need more info.

size of the spider (compact or standard) doesn't have any bearing on the size of the spindle. guessing you mean a 24mm spindle on a bike with a 30mm PF bottom bracket?

help us help you. :)

Yeah I just mean a regular shimano crank. I didn't realize but it looks like problem solvers makes pf30 outboard bearings so I'll probably go with those. Also, can you run an 11sp crank with a 10sp drivetrain?

Praxis Works makes a nice conversion BB. No problem running 11 speed rings with a 10 speed drivetrain.

thanks for the help guys. i'm pretty sure I stripped my fsa sl-k (the nds arm still threads onto the spindle, but it just never gets tight. hard to explain, but i think it's done. bringing it to the shop tonight) and i figure i might as well switch to a shimano crank so it's compatible with my other bike should I ever need to swap cranks. i love the 52-36 ratio, so going to go with the ultegra 6800 52-36.

i ride an aluminum bike with a frame pump, saddle bag, and 32 spoke wheels. but i'll be dammed if i make my tiny little legs push a standard crank.

to make matters worse, the 52-36 is out of stock so looks like i'll be riding a 50-34 for a bit.

53-42 here, would like to change my 42 to a 39 eventually, although as it is, I usually use the 42 more than the 53.

This.

Praxis's conversion is unto itself so it's self aligning etc.

Winter Bottles

I've been riding in the 30s and 40s, and I know many of you ride in colder temps than that. I'm looking for bottles that are relatively easy to squeeze - the plastic apparently gets less flexible the colder it gets. Bottles made by Specialized seem the easiest of the ones I have. Suggestions?

ips0803 01-13-15 11:15 AM

I find the specialized better than the podium bottles I have (both non-insulated)

mike868y 01-13-15 04:45 PM

so bike shop called. i guess "all" that happened is the bolt head sheared off. thankfully it's repalceable. would still like to upgrade to ultegra cranks eventually, but am in no rush to do so if it's not necessary.

how in the f do i manage to break so much stuff considering how small i am?!

I remember seeing that back in Spring. I recall because of the last paragraph: "useable both on-road and off"

These are reported to be Spanish, sold in Spain. I was looking for them when in Spain last week. I didn't see any and didn't want to ask - as most questions involved some sign language as my Catalan is not so good.

In college I dated an exchange student from Catalonia. Her English wasn't too good. My Spanish was even worse - and of course, she spoke Catalan, not Spanish.

At least we could communicate well in other ways.

I think it's foam? from the back it looks like a soft triangle. maybe it's not as crazy as it looks.
