Cleared to train. Cleared to race, but it will all come down to my comfort level in the field. If I end up a hazard I am going to know it, and I'll pull the plug on my career. Until then, the Northeast Masters better get out of the way because this old **** is hungry.

GC, is that a single ring crank? I know it's now common on mountain bikes, is it on 'cross, too?
Good luck, Shovel.

Welcome back shovelhd. Whatever your upcoming season ends up being, at least it will be your choice to make!
Yes, it's 1x11 (42 x 11-32), raceface narrow/wide chainring, and cx1 clutch derailleur, with no chain keepers. This is a really nice setup. I did 43 miles of gravel and singletrack yesterday (low teens windchill, woo) with no chain problems at all on some very bouncy downhills. I love how quiet it is with the clutch RD, you don't realize how frequently chain slap occurs until it goes away. BTW the raceface chainring is less than half the price of the sram cx1 chainring, no idea why the sram is so pricey.
I love this bike! I'm coming from an alu crux with the same exact geometry and fit, rival 1x10 with chain keepers, alu bars and alu MTB wheels. I don't know if the wheels, frame, bars, or funky seatpost are most responsible (probably all of the above), but this bike is night and day smoother. It's not even that much lighter, 19 lbs, of which 2 lbs is the cyclo x-king 42c tires. But I always felt like I was fighting against the old bike.
