Are there any experts in bicycling accident reconstruction?

Does anyone have a link to any cycling accident experts?

These would be people who for some reason have witnessed many on road cycling accidents and related results of the cyclists' injuries, clothing/helmet damage, bicycle etc.

How many of you have studied your bicycle or helmet and clothing after a crash helping you to understand just what happened when and how you crashed?

Lady in a car crowds me, I catch the edge of a newly poured concrete driveway, with a very sharp broom finish. If fall over kind of like you do when you goof on a trackstand and can't get out of your clips....with the addtion for forward movement.

Observed result shredded bike shorts. abrasion from right cheek to knee. right side of my selle turbo saddle trashed.

best i can do for you

This depends on the definition of bicycle accident reconstruction. In auto collisions and even single-vehicle accidents, it is often possible to determine, with quite good reliability, the movements of the vehicles concerned. When an attorney involved in a bicycle accident case asks for "accident reconstruction" he is likely to assume that degree of accuracy and reliability can be provided. Unfortunately, that is not so. There is copious information on mass, inertia, deformation, and such for a wide range of motor vehicles, information that can enable good determinations. However, for a bicycle accident 3/4 to 4/5 of the mass of the "vehicle" is in the cyclist, and the cyclist is a collection of loosely jointed masses under a degree of control that is largely unpredictable. Therefore, reconstruction beyond the initial movements is most uncertain.

There are experts in bicycling accident reconstruction, such as John Schubert https://www.linkedin.com/pub/john-schubert/7/94b/b9b
I have been certified as a forensic expert in bicycle accident reconstruction in three federal court jurisdictions. My testimony is cited in binding case law in Washington D.C. Once, my testimony led to a verdict favorable to my client after eight minutes of jury deliberation.
They are experts not because they witnessed a lot of crashes, but because they understand the physics, forensics, and legal issues related to bicycle accident reconstruction. The most common purposes for accident reconstruction involve finding of fault for lawsuits or moving violations, or for determining if a product failed, or if the physical infrastructure contributed to the crash.

https://www.accidentscene.org/ does that for motorcycle accidents. I've taken several of their courses in first aid for motorcycle accidents, and they discussed preserving as much evidence as possible for later use during the courses. And even though the founder of the course rides without a helmet, I'm still glad I took the courses.

Hey thanks for the comments - I may post more info as to "what's wrong with this picture." I've reassembled the bicycle involved in the crash and looked at the helmet and clothing of the accident victim - and still doubt - that he "just crashed." However, no one eye-witnessed this accident. The only evidence for concluding what happened is the cyclist's position -on his bicycle - on the road, still clipped in to his Speed-play pedals, bleeding from massive head and chest injuries on a mountain highway.

I think there are more elements to this incident. Anyone with personal experience can PM me and tell me about their accident experiences - I don't want to discuss my friend injuries and damages in public. I'll look into the links supplied, thanks.

Most often, the rear wheel can give clues to if the cyclist was hit from behind.

Paint marks on the side of the bicycle would indicate a side swipe.

Any plastic turn signal or head light parts at the scene?
