Formula hubs, might not even have a brand on them since specialized usually orders them blank... low grade steel cones that get rough after any rust occurs... IF the hubs have "Specialized" printed on them, they tend to be a somewhat higher grade hub... let's hope that's the case, eh?

still ain't heard if Hobo tested the wheel off-bike yet.

You either misunderstood or purposely misconstrued the OP's profile quote. At no point did she refuse to provide useful information, and you were off base in lecturing her instead of just requesting the information necessary, first.

Did the OP refuse to divulge bike information prior to be lectured? Nope.

Is the opinion that women are less likely to engage in debates about bicycle brand "sexist"? Hardly. Sounds pretty damn accurate to me, nor is the observation insulting to men.

As a male, you don't need to make sure that everyone is held equally accountable. Men are held less accountable, so you have nothing to make up for by not giving women a "pass".

Get off your horse.

Not sure where you get the "ridiculous brand war behavior often seen on these boards", nor why you think that

women are less concerned with brands than men,

but agree generally about male privilege.

Women, in general, are much less concerned about bicycle brands than many men, in general, are.

I base that one working in the bike industry since the late '80s and participating in boards like these for over a decade.

Women may engage in such behavior with other types of goods, but none of the women I have ever met online or in the shop are interested in declaring "SRAM sucks" or playing the "Does Trek make good bikes?" game.

To their credit.

Well, I did just try to take apart a Bontrager hub, & thought 'this thing sucks'....

And I have some beautiful Bontrager rims that have been taking a pounding for 18 years. Maybe "brand" has little to do with most mechanical issues?

here's a news flash for both of you... BONTRAGER is owned by Trek, and they outsource their hubs, last i heard.

That isn't news, and the quality of an in-house or outsourced hub model by brand X doesn't have much to do with a seat post, rim or even different hub model by the same brand. While my rims are pre-Trek, my later Bontrager seat post works very well.

Kind of makes the whole brand thing pretty pointless.
