Some logical but opposing views here. I now think that best answer is to try it both directions and figure out which works best for you or if you can even determine any difference. No danger running them in either direction and let us know what you find.

So we know that tread patterns do nothing on road tyres... but:
I read that if you mount a GP4000 backwards on the front wheel, it's a tiny bit more aero.

robertorolfo, hydroplaning is riding on a film of water that is on a hard road surface. Your video shows a motorcycle skiing on water. That's different. The others who say hydroplaning on a bicycle is not possible are correct.

I'm just saying it is theoretically possible, not practically likely or realistic. With the width of bike tires, especially road tires, you would have to be traveling at speeds that most riders could never reach even when descending a steep hill. But the depth of the water doesn't matter. If you are skimming along the surface, you are skimming along the surface, no matter how much water is below it.

OK, I'm not an expert, so I definitely can't say why you're wrong, but I've read explanations from experts. One wrote that you'd have to hit 70 mph, which is not going to happen. Hydroplaning is not something we need to worry about, and if we worry about it, we're ignoring real dangers.
