Yes, I am not convinced what you buy online is not always the same as the shops. I just checked my arm and it has the size stamped on it 172.5. Thanks

The heading shown on the page above is different from the one you cited earlier:

"Shimano FC4700 Tiagra 48/34 Compact 165mm Chainset 52 / 36 Teeth 172.5 Mm, Silver"

I did a search yesterday using the confusing heading that you first posted and saw a Performance Bike page with that weird heading and 12 choices of crank arm length and chain ring tooth counts (text boxes rather than drop-down menus). They've since corrected the heading.

It is not. Shimano specifically does not allow third party sales so while you could potentially get what might have been something from a Shimano factory at one point it won't be supported by Shimano and you might also easily get a fake or a knockoff which is quite common these days even down to Microshift stuff being faked anything someone can make a fake off they will do it so look to authorized dealers and you are less likely to have issues.

Should be fine though the chainrings are officially designed for an 11speed chain. Careful with the FC-R8000 in particular though. There was a recall on it.

I might take a chance on this one. I know it's not from a local shop. This doesn't seem to be on the recall list. Seems to be compatible. Thanks.

Believe it or not, the small cog is slipping all the time. The large one I can't get to slip... It does look in worse condition though. Guess the amount of teeth helps. Thanks

I think the FC-08 was the one they produced after the recall issue which used a mix of 12speed crank arms (without the manufacturing flaw) with 11speed rings, so yeah - all good.
