What lube where?
I took a garage sale bike and stripped it down to nothing. Took apart everything humanly possible. What I was interested in knowing, now that I have fully cleaned the bike, are there different lubes that need to go in different places?
I know that the chain requires different lube, but what about the bearings inside some of the Shimano parts? etc. I was going to pick up some park stuff
ITEM # CL-1
Synthetic Blend Chain Lube with PTFE
PolyLube 1000 Lubricant (Tub)
Is that pretty much it? Chain lube, and then Polylube everything else? I want to start rebuilding bikes that I find for free to recycle them. Thanks guys!

Chain lube on the chain. "Superlube PTFE based lubricant for der pivots, cables, shifters, brake levers and everything that needs light lube. Superlube PTFE grease for bearings, pedals, jockey wheels, and all the 'grease' stuff. Occasionally I work a little 10-30 synthetic oil into the freehub.
The superlubes are at the hardware store. The lube comes in a pen type dispenser, and the grease is in a tube that fits into Finish Lines $20.00 grease gun. Very handy tool. Bikes that are kept clean and lubed perform well and last a long time. That's about it. bk

Bikes: 2008 Novara Randonee - love it. Previous bikes:Motobecane Mirage, 1972 Moto Grand Jubilee (my fave), Jackson Rake 16, 1983 C'dale ST500.
+1 - but just greasing is not the whole story. Check Park/Sheldon sites for info on overhauling, including inspection of bearing surfaces. Also avoid reusing the ball bearings - they are meant to be sacrificial and are not practical to inspect. Absolutely do not reuse if they have any less than a mirror finish.

From: dusk 'til dawn.
Bikes: everywhere
I like grease in the bearings, on threads and on the seatpost (assuming metal seatposts and frames).
I like oil on the chain.
I like Triflow on pivot points and cables. (Triflow ain't bad on chains, but is so expensive compared to the motor oil I usually put on chains.)
