Which Cassette Do I Need?

OK.... I'm going to order a new cassette but want to get the correct one. The current cassette is a Shimano IG 11-28t 7 speed cassette so my question is, will a Shimano HG30 11-28 work or a Sunrace 11-28?

From what I understand I need to get a cassette with a 11 tooth small sprocket or the lockring will not tighten the cassette, and will wobble? Will either or both of the above work, or should I look for something else?

Thanks.......

You don't need a cassette with an 11T. The problem is reversed. Some Freehubs with a 12T or 13T cog cannot handle an 11T, because they don't have "compact" bodies. Compact: https://www.sheldonbrown.com/k7.html#hyperdrivec

You can run any 7-speed cassette you want, provided your rear derailer can handle it. Is this the Trek 7000? You should be able to go as high as 32T, and probably 34T without issue. The choice is yours, depending on what gearing you want.

Sunrace stuff seems to be priced lower than Shimano. I don't know if this is an indication of lower quality or not, as I have never used Sunrace. Both Shimano and SRAM cassettes have always worked great for me.

Thanks for clearing that up, as I now see I did understand that in reverse. It's good to know I can use any 7 speed cassette as that makes things easier. Also, it is for my Trek 7000ZX
