BB help!
My situation: just baught a Stradalli T-7 frame and am currently buying componets. I've hit a wall with the BB. im working with a BB86 frame, I have done a lot of research and think I have a BB86 megaexo press fit BB in the bike now. am trying to figure out what crank arms to buy (buying used) and discriptions amount to I.e. Fits GXP....fits megaexo....
The problem I see is that there seems to be a few different types of megaexo BB and it seems GXP is describing the spindle instead of the BB it fits into. I understand BB30 and BB86/90 BB90/95 but I don't understand GXP and megaexo BBs.
Can someone explain megaexo and GXP to me (please! I'm not being lazy, I literally can't find jack s*** about them and it seems everyone uses this to determine what crankset they have)
Thanks to all that reply!

Has it occurred to you to contact the frame seller to inquire how to best select the proper BB for their frame?

Here is Park tool's tutorial on the various bottom bracket "standards" and specifically for the BB86 et. al. Park Tool Co. » ParkTool Blog
Park Tool Co. » ParkTool Blog » BB90, BB86, BB92, GXP Press Fit Bottom Bracket Service
As best I can tell, the BB86 (aka BB90, BB92) uses a "Shimano standard" 24 mm spindle so any Hollowtech II crank should work.

I know what bb I need, the issue is buying a crankset to fit my current BB (BB86). I have seen a lot of listings claiming that their crankset fits megaexo and GXP BBs. I haven't been able to find any standard for just megaexo or GXP BBs. It seems that there might be different types of BBs that fall under megaexo and GXP. Sorry for the confusion in my first post, I was in a rush.
after looking at the article hillrider posted it seems GXP BBs are compatible with BB86/90 with a 24mm spindle diameter. So I assume any crankset that would fit a GXP would fit a BB86.
Im im still fuzzy about the mega exo that FSA makes, it still seems like this line has different BB types but maybe they are all 24mm in diameter and can fit a larger 86...90mm width.
