Baking your chain wouldn't really do anything. Boiling would because it's getting rid of all of the crap on your chain. It wouldn't be very nice to touch though... you could actually melt it.

I think the melting point (of steel) is around 2500 degrees F (1370 C)...i know MY oven/stove doesn't get that hot!
