Current state of BMX
why was bmx so popular? think about it. easy flowing tracks that anyone could see themselves progressing on. you could just roll over all the jumps if you wanted. now jumping and street have taken over. because people see the insane things people are doing now and thats all that is getting ratings. but the problem is when kids try to ride like the pros they can't emualate any of their moves... and they get bored really quick. they ride bikes that are heavy and exausting. and they go back inside and play more video games. many sports are suffering from this. where there is no entry point, and when people start they look dorky and quit. the guys that turn pro, so much is expected from them. and to get a good photo they are going to have to do something that absolutly no one would want to do for fun. same thing in skateboarding with guys doing huge 20 sets... not fun. If people get excited about racing again and just going out and having fun. not even ABA just racing buddies. then bmx may appeal to more kids and that means more jobs in bmx. and plus. racing builds caricter, and is also really fun. even if it's just timed laps. whatever, bmx is fun. and i want more kids off the coutch and out having a good time.
so your thoughts on this? and also. is anyone doing any underground racing right now? it's hard to because alot of the tracks are getting torn down. are you too radical for a bmx track? can't you add on your own transfers style pointsinside the track? or build jumps around the track?

Practice my friend, practice. Kids get bored cuz they can't do triple tailwhips and 900's first try. They have to work to be good like the pros.

well i had some ideas. so i decided to write them... since im not lazy.
And practice.... yeah my point, you can't look cool soon enough so most kids quit... but again. i wasn't complaing about myself, i don't care if i can do anything. i like it when things im into get popular. the technoligy gets better because more money is dumped into the sport. P.S. premium as you may know is owned by haro... there ya go.

WOW. ok. bikes are overbuilt, which adds weight. especialy on a cheaper bike a kid would buy. way too heavy. if racing was more popular kids would want bikes that weren't as heavy + demand for stupidly overweight kids bikes would go down + those heavy ridiculously overbuilt bikes arn't good for anything.
just accept that dirt jumping being so popular is actually dampening the flow of new riders. plus racing makes for better riders anyway.
kid's are not buying nice bmx bikes. they are buying 40 pound haro x2s (see: many threads on this forum) the market is flooded with overweight bikes that are not any good for any aspect of the sport. unlike when i started riding 11+ years ago and i got a dyno nitro. still not that heavy and was plenty for what any kid now is dishing out at that level. that was when racing was popular.
point being, you don't even have to go out and start racing ABA. just have fun and bring back the sport to the level that kids don't get so discouraged when they start. there is really nothing rewarding about buying a 40 pound bike and going out and finding you can't do much at all because the guys at the dirt jumps want some gaper rolling over their takeoffs. and your just a kid and can barely lift your own bike. let there be encouragement.

We hate it when our jumps are rolled.
Thats why we've hidden them and made it impossible to roll.

And, for the record, the 2004 Haro Backtrail X2 weighed 30.5 pounds, not 40.

maybe you should read what ive said before you post.
This just in: ignorance.
is everyone opposed to what i said just because i spelled it all out for you so you didn't have to think? those are summerizations. i didn't feel like writing forever.
i realize that you are lazy, but what are you going to do after highschool? after your mom has stopped paying for your bikes? being lazy isn't cool, not all work is boring. try doing anything cool...

All right then, i guess this is up to me, 5 sentences:
1. Im pretty sure that all of us on this forum do not like you so why should we listen to you.
2. I wish you would get the point, we are lazy and cant be bothered after a days riding (except for fitrider, sorry) to read a essay that won't even be worth reading.
3. I work to pay for my bike so don't even bother saying my Mum pays for it.
4. Beerman is nearly always correct so i wouldn't bother trying to correct him.
5. These are 5 sentences so do you feel better now, no more crying?
