According to the components and decals (note the different placement of the Cro-Mo decals on the seat tubes) the KGxxxxxx bike was built in '72. You can't date these by serial number alone as the headtubes were stamped with serial numbers before they were even brazed to the frames. I've seen serial numbers that were up to 6 *years* older than when the bikes were actually built. Bottom line: it looks like you have one '71 and one '72.

With a BGxxxxxx serial your '71 model very likely has forged Huret dropouts (with an integral hanger), while the KGxxxxxx '72 model would almost certainly have stamped dropouts without an integral hanger (requiring a claw derailleur mount).

the pedals on the bike in the right picture, are those original to the Super Sport? I think they are designed to counter balance toe clip. Am I correct?

The pedals have a reflector mount, since it is in the front, the same location as the tow clips they cannot counterbalance toe clips. It is simply a reflector designed to meet the new consumer protection laws passed in the early 1970's.

Marius I just priced shipping a bike from Idaho to New Jersey, wow wow and wow, I was surprised it would be estimated 245 UPS to box and ship. any one have any ideas how cut shipping cost?

I am in Cleveland, OH.
The shipping should be around 80$ through BikeFlights/ FedEx. I shipped this year at least 3 prewar bikes to California. It cost me around 80$. And the weight of a one speed balloon tire is around 50 lbs.700C

I want this old dog, and based on the pricing mentioned on this thread 80.00 seams to be a fair deal. plus shipping.

I was talking about the shipping, not more than 80$, not about the bike.

Towards the top of the thread the world traveler was compared to the varsity, this is where I saw you mention the 80 dollars. I am thinking the value of the world Traveler is around 80.00 dollars not including shipping. The information you gave me about shipping cost makes this affordable for me. How much do you want to get for the world traveler?

Yes to both questions. Atom 440 were the standard pedals on the Super Sport at that time, however in the early '70s due to shortages KKT RT-SF pedals were at times substituted for the Atom 440.

Sorry, but you didn't understand me.
Jiangshi said that some guys are evaluating the Super Sport as 20$. I made a joke saying I will try 80$.
I am selling bikes around Cleveland and the bottom Varsity is selling for 100...120 easy.
I have a Super Sport for sale for 270. I try to make researches on every bike I have, but for some of them I am asking the opinion of this forum, which gave me good advices.
I paid 30$ on that World Traveler, because of the beautiful/unusual color. As is if I need to ship the bike I need the time and effort to make it parts and pack, like the time to clean and tune-up. Plus the packing supplies. Too much effort for 50$.
If I rebuild it I can try 150$ local. Maybe it sells fast maybe not.
So if you want it, you need to pay the 150 plus shipping.
Sorry, but I try to make a business.

Marius
Very sorry. your right I did misunderstand. I am not a collector or trader so the pricing and values of the different bikes are not familiar to me, also the wide range of values I have seen on various sites seems almost random. I will tell you last summer while walking around the neighbor hood I saw a yellow World traveler in the garbage, and instantly all five of my senses remembered the feelings I had as a 12 year old on with my green world traveler. Tanned body and bleached hair riding to shady oak lake or the baseball practice during summer break. I saved that bike out of the garbage pile even though it was cool yellow, I spent much time and money getting it restored even to the point of having some parts re-chromed. But it was not my green. Buying your 72 opaque green world traveler is less about money as it is about emotion.
I would like to know a couple of things. 1 Is it all original? Please send several detailed pictures. 2 can you find out exactly what shipping cost will be?
If these two are good then I will give you your asking price.
Thank you so much
Jim

You don't know how to package a bike, then. You have to take the wheels off, and pack them in the center, turn the bars, etc. This will reduce the size of the box, so you don't pay the astronomical 'oversize' charges.

The sprocket cover is rusty. The rust on the wheels will clean nice
I don't know if the front derailleur is original. I have some Schwinn approved front derailleurs if those were originally on the bike. I still have some pictures
