Looking for advice....vintage Schwinn Paramount Ned Overend
I have a neighbor/friend who needs to sell his Schwinn Paramount Ned Overend to cover some bills. He bought it new in the 80s, rode it twice and realized it would probably have collectors value someday so he hung it in the garage where it has been since. He asked me to out it in EBay for him to try and sell it, but after hours of searching online, I haven't been able to come up with a good starting price or approximate value. Any ideas where I could look or the best way to sell this bike? It's in mint condition.

Well, any listing will be as good as the photos you provide.
You'll need to measure the seatpost (from center of the crank to top of seat post/top tube). And, did I say this, take good, well-lit, close up photos of the lugs, bottom bracket, full drive-side shot, headset, brakes, derailleurs, etc.
The Paramounts command a premium, and, given the photos to verify, might bring over $1k. BUT, much depends on the photos.
So, get photos and post them here.
Cheers! and Welcome!

It's likely a 1987 Schwinn Paramountain MTB since there was a Ned Overend signature edition of that model. Sorry, but MTBs are a different kettle of fish for me and I have no idea of the value. Here's the 1987 ATB catalog page featuring the frameset.

I love the chainstay mounted canti brakes. Just what a cyclist riding in mud wants.

Though I rarely get involved in mountain bicycles, I see no reason why some of the information contained in Vintage Bicycle Value could not be used to come up with a starting price.
Hope this is a help.

I'm guessing roller cams were common on this bike, since the fork is set up for them too but I have heard tell of XT U-brakes front and rear.

Very nice detective work! I wish there were some way to tell what CL listed items actually sell for instead of just having the asking price. It would be nice to have something like eBay completed auctions for CL.

Do you have experience selling on ebay with spotless feedback?
Have you sold bicycles, and if so, do you have feedback on successfully packaging and shipping bikes?
Is the bike spotless, cleaned and waxed, so it sparkles?
How are your marketing skills? Can you write a great listing, with fantastic pictures?
If yes to all of these, you are ready to go. Each no answer = a discount. Discount increases for each "no."
Unfortunately, a niche bike like this one will probably require ebay to get maximum value.

I don't think the Paramountain MTB is particularly collectible, not like the Paramount road bike. I have seen a couple for sale on Craigslist, they seemed to be reasonably priced. There are some bikes with historic significance and command a premium (such as Ritchey fillet brazed models, or even the original Stumpjumper), but this model is probably not one.
