Very nice probably Japanesemade bike. Could it be a bikeshopbranded bike from : World Of Wheels Modesto, CA | Road, Mountain and Town Bikes, Parts, Accessories ? Anyway I really like the colour and you have a well made frame and good parts.

It certainly looks like a nice early '80 bike. The color is great and the Suntour stuff is real nice.

there was one of these in a thread about 5 years ago (IIRC) and I think it was even the same color paint but that one only had the very distinctive headbadge and no decals...so yours is a step ahead! If you try a deep search you may be able to find that old thread.
Obviously a pretty high quality Japanese production frame and yours has some pricey components, too, some of which may be later upgrades. I never have seen one of those Belt seatposts that copy the early Simplex! I think it may be slightly earlier than '80s and interesting that it has the 'diamond-pierced' lugs that Miyata used on some of their better frames (and used on some Univegas they built) which may be a clue as to the builder...but may not.

A friend of mine bought one exactly like that one, even the same color, new from a bike shop in Alexandria, Virginia in/about 1975 or 1976. Last I heard he had still had, like new, it in his attic in Richmond. It was made in Japan and, if I remember correctly, had the name "Soma" on it somewhere. It had that WOW headbadge. It was a very nice Japanese-made bike for the time.

Yep, that ^ was the thread, good searching-fu! 2007 so a bit farther back in time. Too bad the pics were lost but you can gather from the discussion that it was lavender color and had the same crankset as the OP's. Seem there were sightings of this brand in Virginia and West Virginia so could be the location of the importer.

The good news is it's a beautifully made frame with some of the nicest components ever made.
The bad news is that, judging by the paint damage at the top of the down tube, it's been badly crashed.

I'd like to see a photo of the front end of the tube and a side shot of the whole bike.

Maybe yes, maybe no: somebody touched up the scraped/chipped paint on the down tube, if it was crashed I'd expect a similar patch of damage on the Top Tube just past the lug tip...is there any? The photo above doesn't seem to offer any obvious "bent fork" smoking ***, so the jury's still out. Check the UNDERsides of both tubes in the same areas, too.
I hope you don't find any damage since this frame's such a gem...
EDIT: Huh! G-U-N is a forbidden word! Who knew? Don't tell the NRA or they will flood this website with "issue ads"!
