Meral

Looking for info on a new purchase i just made, bike is a Meral but i have no idea on the frame on it, any one know anything about the frame who it was made by? Is this bike any special?

French bike, seems they were made with decent framesets and components - didn't find a huge amount about them in a very quick search. More closeup photos would help.

I did find the info that the bike was made in France but i can't find any info on the model and the frame, i would like to know who the frame was made by? the frame seems to have seamless welds on it, more pics.

Welcome to the forums. I couldn't find much more than 16Victor. I haven't seen [MENTION=28732]Milo[/MENTION]infrance post for a while but he may know more.

Your bike looks like a decent but lower end frame likely made with some sort of carbon steel or mangalloy tubing. With good doses of TLC and elbow grease it will likely be a good fun rider.

Funny you should mention this. Check here for background information on Meral and another owner's experiences restoring a couple of them. Check here for a 1984 colour catalogue.

They were very good bike. La confrerie des 650B had an article on Meral a while ago. It was a family firm and with aging owners it closed up in the late 80s I believe.

Have the bike apart and frame ready for sandblasting then some paint, still don't know what color to go with. Here is my other project i just purchased a yellow pearl Gironelli, any info on this???
