I dunno what the underwhelming review is about. Finish looked fine to me and pretty similar to Cyclone I. Vx and Vgt were much clunkier. The only Suntour derailleurs with notably better finishes were the Superbe, which cost more.

Blue line became black line towards the end. Must've matched more paint jobs. I think Suntour only made them for 2 or 3 years.

I have a BLue Line rear on my old Super Course. It's good enough for me.

That Disraeli Gears guy is hysterical.

Brown and avocado, boy do I remember them. Carpets, walls, kitchen appliances, clothing, everything.

Wow, we're up to 10 pages. I just wanted to show off my new 5 sped freewheel and accompanying metal spoke protector!

We had an avocado refrigerator. My friend had orange shag carpet at her house.

It's 1980s, not 1970s, but yeah, the Blueline derailleurs (and later, the black Blueline derailleurs) would have fit right in, had they been earlier in being born. I always thought that band of color is a slab of plastic, not a paint stripe. Guess I should take a closer look?

I agree with others here, they are just as good as a Vx, even if they might be just a smidge heavier. I've got a couple of them in long and short cages, they work just fine, like a SunTour, even.

The Univega Viva Sport that I had picked up a couple of years ago was equipped with BL derailleurs - I replaced them with 1st gen Cyclone just because. I had cleaned up the BL by putting them in my ultrasonic cleaner using kerosene, and the blue paint came off the black plastic center part. Oops. Sold them to a fellow BF.net member.

Brown, Avocado, and Harvest Gold. I remember "helping" Dad paint the kitchen Avocado circa '71 or so.

I seem to recall big clunky platform shoes being a thing mid-70s; my older sister had a collection. Guys wore garish polyester camp shirts with a sunset to school dances.

For a year or so, everyone where I lived had these. I recall them being a bit larger than the ones shown here:

It wasnt paint, it was a strip of vinyl or whatever. The strip was peeling off of mine. Anyways, the BL did a good job no matter what Disraeli says.

They were known where I lived as "click-clacks". They have been long ago banned for being dangerous, but the "attraction" was having the eye-hand coordination to get them to sound like a plastic version of machine-gun fire as the balls struck each other at the top and bottom of their arcs in rapid succession.

See the video here:

Part of what attracted me to cycling were those enticing exotic looking imported water bottles in my LBS display case. They all had such beautiful graphics and looked like little jewels, and were cheap enough for a kid to buy.

When Specialized came out with their crass corporate water bottles, they destroyed all that.

I once go a set to actually 'clack' properly, but not for long.
Once kids realised that's all they did, then they soon fell out of favour round our way...

I can still use them quite well. It was a few years back with a group of teen guys from our church at my house for an all-niter when from another room I heard "clack clack OUCH" several times. I grabbed the set and wailed on them. I became legendary that night.
