Ideas for repurposing a NDS crank arm
So I was wondering if anyone here has any ideas for repurposing a NDS crank arm. I have an Ofmega Mistral crank that is broken on the drive side, leaving me with an orphan crank arm. I could throw it up on the Bay, but doubt it would go for very much.
So what have ya got? Bottle opener, thingamajig, hoosiemadoozie?

I agree it won't go for much, but to the guy who needs one, it would be a treasure.
I guess I'd say, repurpose the broken one... pass the good one on to someone who needs it.

+1 I have sold many orphans...both drive and non-drive sides...and...always to someone appreciative! Cover your shipping costs and make a couple bucks...and REALLY make someone else's day...

+1 this. Except for a garage queen, what does it even matter if both sides match? Nobody can see them at the same time, right? My 3-speed, fixed gear frankenbike has an SR Royal drive side arm and Zeus non-drive side arm (and Sugino chainring and Campagnolo bottom bracket).

I guess I was planning on trying to find something to do with it because it's pretty. Perhaps I will just pop it on the Bay. I need to sell the chainrings, as well.

I've always thought it would be cool to make up something like the hardware stores have for checking thread sizes........in this case for French, Italian, British, JIS bottom bracket and pedal threads. I think this would come in pretty handy for some folks. I also like to keep an orphan arm in my tool box for stress relieving spokes during a wheel build.
I would also agree that the OPs orphan could make someones day and it'd be worth offering it up.

How about gear shift knob for your car, or a keychain that will never get lost, or how about a crank arm mobile... or wind chime... how about making the handle of a tool:

There's been a few threads on this and related orphan parts topics, like this one, which has a link to a potentially handy parts trading spreadsheet. FWIW, my parts postings on the spreadsheet are still accurate, AFAIK.

guys use a dt shifter as a key fob, which is really cool, especially if it's campy nr.
but people lose their keys all the time.
so, use a bigger key fob, like an nds crank arm.
