Try this: facebook.com/marketplace/item/2031242263819329

He's listed it as a 27" frame, but either my eyes are deceiving me, or Raleigh measured this frame really oddly, or he meant 27" wheels. It looks like it could be in the 58 range, anyway.

That does look pretty sweet, and could quite possibly be a 58cm. Unfortunately I really don't have the cash to try finding someone to facilitate buying shipping it. That's why I was hoping maybe a member here would have one, or even just a frame and fork in those colors that they may want to trade.

Wonder if anyone's got an early D-A headset collecting dust in a bin somewhere? If so i'd love give it a good home. :)

Looking for one as pictured below. Thanks!

ISO: Any style Takagi crank arm dust cap and a pink/red Sugino cap similar to the pic below. Could use 1 or 2 of either. Would trade for other caps or parts. I've got Sugino, SR, and various others.

Have: A bit of everything. Seem to have a lot of tri-color recently.

Think I have a pair in my garage, (I actually have 2 pairs on bikes....) I'll get out there in a bit and dig. I know I have some 6 speed Deore thumb shifters, and they will work and look identical except for the 6 embossed on them rather than a 7.

I do indeed have a pair. Not quite NOS condition. The bubbling on the top cap of the rear shifter is the protective film (on both) that was never removed.

Thanks for the offer, just today made a trade. :thumb:

Looking for Shimano tricolor STi brifters.

I have a 1988 Fuji Tiara cherry web (like Keith's)

I want to ride it in the diaryland classic this summer

But I don't feel comfortable to ride 100+ miles with hills on dt's

I have a few different things I could trade. Thanks

I don't have one to trade (actually, I don't have one at all), but if you get stuck you can buy a new one from Spa Cycles in the UK. They're around $30, I think, plus shipping.

mountaindave 12-26-17 09:53 AM

Thanks, Jon. They don’t mention international shipping on their website and I’m waiting for an email response. They also have a good selection of Cyclotourtist rings at decent prices. SJS also has small-sized 86 BCD, but only in black.

Come down from the land of the Chippewa.

DT's are actually a bit easier to ride than STI's on the Dare.
You can reach down and grab a handful of climb with one shifter throw.
You'll hear the satisfying "thunk" when the chain seats, and be 30 yards ahead of the guy still flailing on his STI's.

Do not ask me how I know this.

Stay in touch, and we'll do our best to hook you up for the Dare. I spend some summers on Holcombe.

Seriously, you'll be set on your FD shifts while many others are dropping chains. Just practice a bit.

And we'll keep an eye out for some 8-sp clickers and a place at the table for you.

As I recall, they have kind of an awkward system where they have to figure out your price by subtracting the European VAT tax and adding in a shipping charge. They then send you a price quote by email. My transaction with them went well when I bought a 30-tooth ring from them a few years back. Almost ready to do it again, because I'm ready (or rather, my legs are ready) to step down to a 28-tooth granny on my touring bike.

Have pending: 9sp Ultegra 3x9 group with STI's, very nice condition.
ISO: The elusive 9sp DA 7700 GS (long cage) RD.

I know, I know, I can use the Ultegra's RD. I simply don't need the whole group, and someone could get the group for the price of the RD. Imagine that.

For some reason I've just always wanted one of these... I'm not entirely sure why.

cehowardGS had one of these, more rust than color. Still, it was stolen more than once.

I have a set of Campy Avanti's in dual pivot. Also a set in single pivot. Go figure. PM me for extremely senseless terms.

ISO. dual-pivot brakeset with decent pads. I could even use a front only, as I have a RSX rear, but would prefer a matched set. If you've got something really nice, like some Ultegras or equivalent, I've got Campy Centaurs with maybe 200 miles on them (I removed them due to lack of quick-release).

I have either (or both) to trade:
Shimano 600 and Weinman 500 brake calipers. Both sets have been cleaned, polished and lubed. The Shimano has some corrosion on the quick release pivots that wouldn't come out, but the brake arms polished better than the Weinmann.

I've got other stuff to trade as well: lots of stems (threaded and threadless, including two short-reach Technomics); some seatposts, including a black Thompson Elite in 27.2.

Interesting you bring this up. Recently acquired a one owner 1997 Silk Path 300. Straight bar, hybrid, 700c and 45mm travel Headshok.

After a well needed full service and clean, I converted it to a road drop, Sora dual control STI, shorter stem (exclusive CODA), fit new Conti Speed something or other 42 mm width rubber. With the new rubber and consumables, I'm into it for $150. Heavier machine but highly capable to cover all sorts of terrain. Honestly think these bikes are ugly but do like the robust feel and seem rugged enough to take hard use. All aluminum one would think it a harsh ride, yet its incredibly plush, best of anything I have.

New rubber? Really? What has gotten into you?

I know his isn’t the opinions section, but have you tried bar ends? My daughter and I use them on our CX bikes and love them. Your hands are in the drops, still with a good firm grip on the bars when you shift. I have replaced all my STI with either DT or bar ends. All still indexed, and much more reliable.

It's an auction. They list low and solicit (best) offers until they hit what they're looking for.:crash:

Too much eggnog and brandy. :p

Anyways, I dig the bike. Very utilitarian and perfect for winter / salt laden roads.

Funny you should mention 'old' tires. The ones removed were ready in my trash bin when my neighbor asked for them! He now has them on his daily rider.

Iso l side shifter

I'm ISO a L SIDE Shimano 9 speed Ultegra SHIFTER for a 2000 Trek 2300 WSD road bike. Brake works but won't shift properly big ring to small ring. Something is stuck. Mechanic at LBS said it was no good and needs replacing.

You may have already tried this but...
It's surprising how often one of those shifters can be brought back to life by shooting large quantities of silicone lube into the mechanism from every possible angle.
Brent

danarello 12-27-17 10:58 PM

That's interesting, because the mechanic at LBS mentioned trying to "flush out" the shifter brake, but in his opinion it would only be a temporary fix. I was wondering what type of cleaning agent he would use to flush out the shifter but I didn't ask. I heard people use a brake cleaner type of spray. I think I'll try the silicone lube. Thanks.

curbtender 12-27-17 11:48 PM

They used a grease that tended to harden up and block the cogs. I'd try WD40 first, blow it dry then respray with tri-flo.

As said, these take favorably to being de-gunked from time to time. I had a set of RSX, 7-speed brifters and a good thorough soaking with WD-40 cleared them out very well. Brent's suggestion about silicone spray is not too shabby either, WD-40 is a water displacement product, not a long term lubricant, silicone spray will add some lubrication to the pawls and internal parts making up the shifting mechanism, once its been flushed clean.

There was an ebay store that offered maintenance and rebuild for this generation of Shimano shifter/brake mechanisms for a while, but I haven't seen them posted there in a few years.

Bill
