Interesting you bring this up. Recently acquired a one owner 1997 Silk Path 300. Straight bar, hybrid, 700c and 45mm travel Headshok.

After a well needed full service and clean, I converted it to a road drop, Sora dual control STI, shorter stem (exclusive CODA), fit new Conti Speed something or other 42 mm width rubber. With the new rubber and consumables, I'm into it for $150. Heavier machine but highly capable to cover all sorts of terrain. Honestly think these bikes are ugly but do like the robust feel and seem rugged enough to take hard use. All aluminum one would think it a harsh ride, yet its incredibly plush, best of anything I have.

Anyways, since this recent find I've scouted around for similar Cannondales. These hybrids are out there and $150 is the going rate. I'd recommend it vs. a mountain bike. The platform is there with hardly any mods needed.

I did stumble on a couple Silk Paths for sale on CL. I personally like the look of the earliest ones, with the flatter top tube and 26" wheels, but if it were a real steal, I'd go for a Silk Path. I am hugely against suspension fork MTBs and have always stuck to rigid frame bikes, but something about the headshok was always intriguing to me.

Don't have a need or want for your hub but I do have a 13-26 6 speed freewheel. Sent you a PM.

I don't need the hub either, but I have a matching pair of old Mavic GP4 rims in rider condition. PM incoming.

I have an NOS green Vittoria tubular tires. Since I have no tubular wheel sets this can move on. If someone is interested in a trade let me know. I am uncertain about needs at the moment but am open to anything.

ISO: A working set of preferably 3x8 but possibly 3x9 brifters. They need to be good, erring on the side of very good condition. Lots of stuff to trade.

Insidious C. 12-06-17 10:56 PM

If RSX brifters are acceptable I have 3x8

jeirvine 12-07-17 09:42 AM

Here's my current list of odds and ends I am ISO:

1. NDS arm for Sugino Mighty Tour crank, 170.
2. NDS arm for Avocet crank, 170. http://tenspeedhero.com/wp-content/u...cetCranks1.jpg
3. Cage spring for Suntour LePree RD.
4. Mounting bolts for Suntour Sprint RD, and Suntour BL RD
5. Campy NR spring/stop housing.
6. Campy Super Record RD pulley cages (~'78-'86)

I'm not desperate, but it'd be nice to make some parts whole again.

I have one just like that, I mean it's really just like that except for one little detail, viz: the hole in the center, which should be hexagonal, is round. Yours if you want it. It looks great, but it's hard to remove....

Drill a pair of holes in it, opposite each other and equidistant from the center.

Yup, that is my plan. I mentioned it here on the chance tarsi wants it, but he probably doesn't. I'll drill two little holes and ream out the center of the dust cap so it fits over an allen head crank arm bolt. It'll look like a self extracting system, but I won't be fool enough to try to use it.

clubman 12-08-17 03:36 PM

Or file it up to the next metric size?

veganbikes 12-10-17 08:42 PM

ISO: a 1" threaded cantilever 26" suspension fork of decent quality. Obviously I need to measure the old steerer tube and figure out the size but is for an old early 90s Klein (I believe early 90s) if that helps. I would love a RS Judy but probably don't have RS Judy money or at least not a rideable one.

Do you have a current blown out suspension fork? Don't have a complete working 1" fork, but lots of spare parts for rebuilding Rockshox stuff if you have a blown out Mag or Judy.

Also have a Manitou 4 with a giant pile of various steerer tubes, needs a rebuild with elastomers but not seized.

Also have tons of Marzocchi stuff, one part short of a 1" Z-2 atom bomb. Have 1" steerer and shim, need crown.

That's gonna be tricky to find in 1" threaded, looks like a long steerer. To correct my own post the Manitou is a 4, not 3. Might actually have a super long steerer for that one.

Is that an RST fork? Think I've got a blown out one of those myself. A local guy who sold his shop had a pile of RST rebuild parts, bought almost everything suspension fork related he had except the RST stuff as I had no idea how to work on them.

Need some campy pedals for the Eroica California. I have lots of cycling stock for trade including a new The Giro Advantage 2 helmet, Giro gloves, mint campy record shifters for braze on, tires including some nos victoria tubulars, and new clinchers, etc. I do have nos christoph clips and straps that could be traded incase the pedals already have. email me at joesch at woodtennis dot com for any possibilities

PM sent. I have a spare pair of SL pedals, and an orphan left if you are looking to piece a pair together.

Sweet if you do let me know...I am hopefully going to pull the fork and measure it this week.

I don't really want to rebuild a fork if I don't have too especially not excited about an RST. I don't think it is original and worth a lot. It is a skill I want to learn but not one I have a need for at least around where I live.

Thanks. I am pretty chuffed to have it. I have the proper derailleur for it so I can take off that Acera thing and hopefully restore it a bit or at least make it functional and add some extra fun.

I had a Klein like shown that Im missing since it was my only mtn bike but gave to a friend in need living at poverty level. He has been riding and enjoying the natural high of this exercise. Great classic hard tail and I would love to get another for the dirt roads and trails not suited to my road bikes.
