Wasn't someone around here inquiring if their low end Huret derailleur was fake a while back? People are paranoid. It's bizarre.

I mean, how could anyone possibly believe that someone could fake a Campagnolo seat post even if they wanted to?
Of course the answer is, they don't really believe it. Just one more way for a flake to get out of an eBay purchase. But given eBay's obvious buyer protection slant, why bother?

Sign of the Times.

Getting back to Seat posts... What are the actual differences in Campy Aero posts? I mean the C Record, Chorus, Triomphe series. I checked Hilary Stones Site in my lengthy search and they list them as all the same. Is this true?

In brief. A limited ed. made in Germany, brand new, complete, in the box + paperwork Schuco Auto-union tin car -perfect original and cherished condition. Buyer signed as received and after a few days I had followed up and thanked him! No feedback yet was posted.

The buyer only then replies was so dissatisfied and claimed it was a fake + repainted, even after he checked with his blacklight?? LOL

I was quite taken back by the statement and knowing personally acquiring the item direct from the company. Regardless, I offered for him to return it, I'll even absorb all the fees but only reimburse after receiving it and the same condition it was delivered.

Buyer became outraged and threatened lawsuit....yada, yada. Too mental beyond further explanation. Of course a record of comm. was with ebay. Anyways, the buyer declined my gracious resolution and kept the item. He also gave me a negative feedback. It was such a longtime ago, but think ebay took care of the neg. feedback.

What a nutsack whoever he is.
^That's pretty hilarious. I've dealt with a few people like that too, but fortunately very few.

On the original topic, there is no doubt in my mind that as others have said, the buyer bought the wrong size or changed his mind. At least he came up with an original excuse for wanting his money back.

No, that's alternate facts.

Expect all kinds of plays now, bad time to be a plumbing or electrical contractor... For a famous hotel "owner". Not paying or renegotiating after the fact will be the new normal.

Even if it was counterfeit, which I highly doubt, if it had the weight and the look, I'd use it.

Heck, I sold KonAaronSnake a counterfeit Record Titanium seatpost, and neither he nor I knew it.
We still don't.

If I needed one, I'd buy it from you, if you took $3.50 off, because that's my fee to maybe be fooled by the Doc.

Really, that is one silly buyer. His loss.
He could have owned a part used by A Legend, a Dairyland Dare Vintage Class Enthusiast winner.

I don't know, seemed like your basic C-record era aero-style Campagnolo seatpost to me. I even checked mine against pics on Velobase to make sure I had the model and era correct.

Considering I owned and used said seatpost for about a decade before deciding I didn't need it and then polished it up on the new bench buffer my daughter gave me for Christmas, needless to say, I was surprised.

Actually, I do have a fluted Nuovo Super Record single bolt seatpost in 27.2. Not a 'Rino' post.
What makes these so valuable to you? They seem to be all over the place for $100-135 or so...
I am by no means siding with the buyer, because there were photos and they saw them. However, polishing a post can make them look a little more rounded out and although it is beautiful you can kind of tell it isn't factory original. Was this clear to the buyer?

For the record I went through a heavy polishing phase and have nothing against it. I love polished components.

Hilary Stone 27.2mm Seatposts
I can't tell the difference between chorus, victory, triomphe, etc... it might be level of polishing. but the C-record ones had the exposed bolt head. That is the easiest way to tell.

VeloBase.com - Component: Campagnolo C-Record (Aero type, 180mm)

VeloBase.com - Component: Campagnolo Chorus Aero

Bikes: Indeed!

I might pay extra for a high quality counterfeit! A lot more rare than the original item and a fine conversation piece.

I always had doubts about this seatpost:

It's supposed to be a C-Record, but has a "step" just beneath the aero section - I have never seen one like that. What do you think?

What? Pffft! That thing is so obviously a fake...

But for real, Reynolds raises a good point about his seatpost. I've got a bike with full C-Record, and I don't recall seeing that step on the post. Or anyone else's C-Record bikes. Not that I've paid close attention.

Anyone else? Doc?

I suppose will need to closely check the SR seat post (single bolt, 27.2, much less than $400.00, take that Wiley)I have in-route now. rccardr, are you selling out of Austria right now? I'd hate to get one of the nefarious counterfeit items, and I refuse to stoop to the low level Wiley is skulking towards. Hopefully Kactus has saved him from living in sin.
