Rabeneick Advice Needed Please...
I am close to buying a Rabeneick frame set. Are there any special issues with this German frame, such as unusual threading, tubing size and the like. It looks like the bike is late fifties to early sixties.
Thanks and kinda in a hurry.

Rabeneick frames I have seen are completely normal. Older bikes will need long reach brakes. Of course it is old and you are not showing pictures....
Top quality frames in general. If a race bike by late fifties all normalized to international usefulness. City bikes would be another story.

My Rabeneick
3 spd coaster brake, stainless wheels/fenders. Certainly not interned for anything other than recreation or commuting.
Rides/shifts well. I added from caliper brake as I like them better than coaster.
Well built hi-ten steel but it ain't no lightweight however once you get your speed up it's fun to ride.
Would like to know more about the company as there seems to be a dearth of info on the net.

Yehaa! After a two month wait, the Rabeneick 120d has arrived. A friend, from Duluth, brought the bike to me yesterday.
I have been searching through my miserably disorganized stash for period correct components. Needless to say, I don't have everything I need to do a proper restoration, but I have - almost - enough to make the bike road worthy and look pretty good.
If I had a set of side pull brakes that would work, I would have taken it out for a test ride today, but, sadly, I need some longer reach brakes (Universal Preferred). Anyway, the bike and the start of a new project...

Still here!
BTW, these could also be ordered with Vainqueur center-pull brakes BITD, so if you've got a pair of those that fit, you're good.

Check the google image gallery for Rabeneick Campagnolo. Most bikes that show have sidepulls. I found two with your style binder bolt and centrepull. One had a braze-on to mount the hanger, the other had a seat collar that could have been put there by the owner with hanger attached to bolt. There were also standup cable stops that attached to the back plate of the brake. Have not seen one of those in a dogs age but they existed at least in Mafac and DiaCompe.

Pretty frame. Anyone know why the backward seat clamp?

Been away from the computer for the past week, or so, helping my mother settle into a long care facility. Anyway...
I do have a clamp that might work for a set of center pulls but will use it only as a last resort. There are a few bikes at the local dump, one of which came home with me yesterday (an old but nice Baraccuda). One of those bikes, a lovely condition Raleigh Record step through, sports a set of side pulls with a reach long enough to fit my needs for test riding the Rabeneick. Gotta go get that Raleigh today...
