Those are Campagnolo Nuovo Tipo hubs. Nuovo Tipo simply means new type. It sounds silly to my ears when people call them Tipo hubs. Sure, they're some type of hub.

Welcome to the area Narhay ! I'm in Port Dover on Lake Erie about 100km from "the big smoke". The Canadian Vintage Bicycle show in Brantford Ontario is the one we all wait for. It's organized by some folks whose main interests lean to antiques and cruisers CCMs etc but there is an equal number who participate who are into vintage road bikes and lightweights. The Winter show is much smaller in Brantford but still brought out the Holdsworth, a Melie, a Falcon or two and some nice 3 speeds. Also some vintage MTB and BMX and a popular contingent of "muscle bikes".

Thanks Tom. I agree with you that it sounds a little silly. I still refuse to call the stuff "Campy" !

Been cleaning up the GB (Gerry Burgess) bars and stem for the Holdsworth Project. I have always liked the look of design on the bars and they are in nice condition. They are the "Ventoux" style. As I age, I'm sure they will be helpful if:
a) I forget who I am. (GB for George Brown) or,
b) I get lost in the UK (map on right side) which admittedly is a long way from Canada!
The lower part of the stem is a little marked from the rust and corrosion that had married it the fork for years, but presentable..

Frame # 36309 and fork #36309 have been reunited successfully and the new loose 5/32 ball bearings feel quite smooth. The frame has been cleaned and polished with a Mequiars compound and will soon get some touch up paint. I hope to get the bottom bracket in today.

Unable to locally locate or even reasonably on-line a front brake hangar. Have no idea why it costs so much to ship small items these days especially from the US. So I de-rusted and sanded the old hangar and gave it a coat of Duplicolor "Steel Wheel" paint. That stuff is really tough. Been on my Triumph TR7 for 25 years.
Paint was a very close match and I have started to work on the decals. Very close to reassembly but have been out riding the last few days in the admittedly late but very welcome spring weather.

Most of the "bits" are now ready for reassembly. I purposely did not polish the brakes calipers or levers but left a nice clean aged finish to keep the bike looking original. The one Weinmann brake hood is toast and for now I am going to try a generic Cane Creek product which was cheap and easily available. Derailleurs and shifters are cleaned as best as I can although age and corrosion have left their marks. The original black ribbed cables will be replaced with modern lined type Jagwire.

Great thread, I really enjoy following your work.
Somewhat off topic, but is the Bloor family you mention related to the John Bloor who rebuild Triumph Motorcycles?

Thanks very much for these progress reports.
Fine work and excellent documentation.
The Ventoux is one o' me fave bends as well; have seen "wanted" adverts from folks seeking them. Good to see Gerry even shows the Isle of Man.
If you would like to take the stem a bit further the nicks can be removed with a jeweler's file and then the stem can be wet sanded prior to polishing.
The 15S's came out quite nice considering where they began!
Cycle's unmarked wheel rims appear to be Weinmann model 210's which have escaped the usual markings. Same rim also offered with Weinmann's Alesa badge.

(our marvelous new format does not permit me to post images either from me device or via URL)
VB lists rim as model 210 yet this advert lists it as model 256 -

No doubt, we are all envious of how clean and uncluttered is your garage.

I remember going in there with my Dad in 1972 (I think). I don't think I was able to get my Jaw closed for about a Week afterwards.

Things are starting to come together on the Holdsworth Project but it will be put on "Hold" for a week or two while I build up a 26" wheeled ladies MTB to City bike conversion for a friend. I need to decide on brake hood and bar tape colours on the Holdsworth in the mean time. The last few bikes I have done, I've saved the old chain for a length reference when installing the new one.

Filing the cotters to a good fit was very time consuming but necessary as the drive side required less filing than the NDS. I think I will be using light brown cotton tape with the brown hoods. The "shorty" mudguards are not my favorite, but it is the way the bike was delivered.

Work resumed on the Holdsworth this week and I actually did a short test run late this afternoon. The rear brakes are not very strong, have to sort that out but the fronts are surprisingly good. The artist brush decal repair looks decent and maintains the originality of the bike. Ride position is comfortable but the top tube is awfully close when standing! The Campagnolo front and rear derailleurs work surprising well but not quick. The RD cable wants to bend at the braze-on and I've temporarily put a small clamp on the chainstay. Is there a better solution?
The bars will be wrapped in light brown cloth tape. I have a brown cotton duck tool wrap I may also install. The "shortie" Weinmann mudguards are starting to look better.

install.

The best info on the tube set would suggest it is 531 straight gauge as is fork. Have not been able to verify that for certain.

Great job! Many of us greatly appreciate you taking the time to document and share your progress. Looks much better than my 1964 Holdsworth Typhoon. What's your secret to getting the paint that shiny? I've used rubbing compound and good quality wax, but the original midnight blue on mine doesn't polish up as well. By-the-way, I've got mine setup as a retro path racer single speed. It's a fun alternative for buzzing around.
Cheers,

The Holdsworth Project is Complete
Final setup and test ride were a success. The bike will likely live here for a while until another comes to take its place. The Holdsworth was rebuilt essentially as it was purchased with no modifications. Likely it or my '58 Sun Cresta will have to go as they are very similar feeling bikes. I used Newbaum cloth bar tape and added a brass bell and a canvas tool wrap.
