Is this really a Cinelli frame?

The bottom bracket lug is but that doesn’t make it a Cinelli frame.
If it is nice bike. Front derailleur is not C Record though.

Could be a number of builders but that shifter mount dates it around 84-86.

Still a pretty nice bike, worth knowing what it actually is.

rccardr may be able to provide some insight on non-SC Cinellis, or maybe iab.

Yes, not a true Cinelli but an intriguing frame with some odd features: in addition to the "shot-in" fast-back seat stays the brake bridge might be "upside down" from the way this one is "normally placed", if I'm reading it right. Do the DOs have portacatena holes? The shifter mount hints at internal cable routing THRU the tubes and maybe stays, would be nice to see more pics of that if so. Probably a high-end frame and no idea what the extra bolt near the rear brake is all about...

Nice group on a nice frame.

May be a good deal at $700 if you can figure out what the frame actually is. May be one where all you need is a set of correct decals and headbadge, and you have just as nice a bike.

With the nicely chromed stays I would have expected the front fork to be chromed as well. Perhaps covered during repaint.

Wazup Chicago BF’ers?

I see a LOT of CL postings from this seller for various vintage road bikes. The ads are all similar with adjectives like “minty”. Prices are usually more than I want to pay, and I do my own work, so I’m not interested in paying for the rehab work of others. But what’s his deal?

I've never done a deep dive into the "proper" orientation of that brake bridge, and, yes, if we're reading it right---not a lot of it showing. Anyhow, I found enough examples of both orientations that I had a hard time calling either one "correct." Can't recall details, or even who made it. Maybe if there are catalogs from the mfr showing only one orientation?

If the seller really thinks it’s a genuine Cinelli bike the price should be at least double. Makes it all more fishy.
