Another click of the ratchet towards a rideable bike:
The Great and Wonderful pastorbobnlnh sent me not one, but two 36-hole AW hubs! One a 1949 threaded, with an 18t, the other a '73.
The current 'plan', improperly so-called, is to use the '49, geared either 36x22 (more likely) or 38x24. (a little better, but 24s are harder to find.) Real fun with the threaded driver would be a multi-cog and the Hercules 'Herailleur' derailleur. (The only RD I'd ever put on the bike.)
Next up will be the wheel build. Front first... it's been about 20 years.

I found a NOS 28 hole that I used for my resto-mod Hercules, this is a 1963 based on info I found on the internet, those are 700c rims, I built this 21 years ago and 650 wasn't really a thing yet, it will hold a 25mm tire inside the fenders, but just barely!

Another Saturday, another trip to the co-op, another potential part.
Entangled within one of the bins-o'-bars was a pair of Velo Orange Porteurs. Pretty similar to the Riv Chocos that I've been thinking would be ideal for the build I've got in mind. About an inch narrower at the ends, a bit more reach, and shorter straights:
Oh, yeah... and 1/12.1th the dough.
Mocked 'em up with the 100mm Kalloy high-riser:
(And then I ended up using the stem on the '74 Sports, but that's another thread.)
Next big step: building the wheels. I've got what I need, except spokes. And I've got to get the rims measured... They're Australian Velocitys, and Velocity USA hath nary a clue about them.
