just grabbed this one for my gf.. 86 Ascent.. looks all original cept tires and saddle. Interesting mix of shimano with a sugino crank and suntour freewheel/ Suzue wheelset seems similar to that which was speced on the Apex. Also the same color and decals as my 86 Apex

I think my Rocky Mountain is a classic... it was one of the last hand built steel hardtails (and arguably the best steel hardtail) that was made on this side of the pond.
It does everything it needs to do so very well and if I was looking to do an off road tour this would be the bike to take... was nice that RM built the frame with rear eyelets for things like a rack and fenders.
Frame is Reynolds 725... with those massively sticky Kenda Nevegals it still curbs out at less than 25 pounds.

Interesting side note is that the Race Face SL crank was designed here in Edmonton by my neighbour across the street... he still has the original prototypes of this aluminium / carbon composite crank.
He also developed the first carbon frames for Rocky Mountain and was involved with Kona and other companies developing early carbon fibre components... for a time John Tomac was one of his test riders.
His company also developed some of the first carbon disc wheels used in road competition.

You can't go wron g with a reynolds frame. 725 is a very responsive and comfy steel to ride

Bicycle Repair Man !!!
Will probably be swapping the Mars fork for a newer one with a little more travel and a remote lockout... just swapped the wheels for an XT/ Araya set as I moved the DX set to my Kuwahara to bring that group together.
My next mtb build will be my '88 Kona Explosif... as a rigid it should curb out at close to 20 pounds and it will be kitted out with an XTR / XT group that I have finally collected... it is another 725 frame that was hand built on a production level whereas the Blizzards were all one offs that were made to order.
This is a very light frame... and much lighter than the Blizzard frame which was designed for some pretty extreme pounding.

No pics at the moment but I did manage to pick up a 1987 Univega Alpina Uno with Suntour XC7000. Not a bad score, its triple butted cromo.

My '96 VooDoo Wanga....this is what it looked like when I got it home after picking it up, for a couple hundred. The Judy has the air kit in it, works great too! Handbuilt Joe Murray steel wonderfullness!!!!

There's a an odd Ross mtb at the shop right now. Built like a Technium, and the brand name is Signature. A small label on the downtube states manufactured by Ross Bicycle Company. Shimano STX components, Ritchey Stem and a bars too I imagine. The same person is putting a BABY SEAT on a Klein Attitude!?! I told him how nic the bike was, and that it was still valuable. They would hear NONE of it. So, I get to feel like a chump and put a WeeRide on a badazz old Klein with first gen Hayes Hydraulic brakes.,,,,BD

As promised earlier, a Specalized StreetStomper.
It's my size but the wife wont let me keep it. What if I price it too high, so it sits around for a while?? Super comfy do most anything / around town kind of ride- I love bikes like these.
Everything is original except consumables, tires, dust caps, and front wheel. It's twin brother only about 2 inches smaller is up next for overhaul.

1991 Karakorem Elite GT
20" frame black colour paint.(great shape)
Picked it up from my LBS, had been turned in for a trade. Funny thing is, it was sold at the same shop back in 91 as well. Don,t think I will ever turn it in myself.....
Pics as is 'cept the Blackburn rack has been removed. Pedals replaced by the LBS, grips aftermarket as well but on the hunt for a GT/A"ME set. Seat is a leather one with brass rivets that looks just like a GT one. Leaving it on for now, back tire by the PO. Front is the original Richey megabite great shape too. Have a set of WTB slick 1.5 on order per a good review from a fellow BF'er.
This makes my 3rd GT with a 93 Borrego and 92 Outlook frame(hopeless) also in the stable.
Full Shimano Deore DX that functions perfectly.
