Revell???

What the heck kind of bike is this? I can't find info on it anywhere. I'm not really looking to buy, it just caught my eye for some reason. Wish I could see the head tube lugs.

It is a Revell, a british marque, can't give you much more info than
that.
I was going to say the brand of models but I have no idea if they are still around.

(who built his share of Revell model cars).

Raleigh Delivery. IMO a bit expensive, but not if you want it bad enough.

1978 Mercian in great condition on e-bay now

I found this nice bike on e-bay. I corresponded with the vendor and the frame number is 59978, which indicates that it was built in 1978. If you e-mail Mercian, they will be able to look up the serial number and quote the model and also the name of the frame builder.

He's misreading a headbadge. It says Gitane Nantes. Nantes is the town where it was made. It's worth exploring. It could be a Tour de France or a Super Corsa.

QUICK!!!!

Should I bid on this Fuji?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...MEWA%3AIT&rd=1

HERE IS A FUJI PALISADE VA LITE 414 12 SPEED BYCYCLE.IT HAS NITTO HANDLE BARS,SHIMANO SHIFTERS,SUGINO VP CRANK, AND MKS AR-5 PEDALS.THIS IS A VERY LITE BIKE .THIS IS USED AND SHOWS LITTLE WARE.BUYER MUST PICK UP AT ST.THOMAS,PA.17252 NEAR CHAMBERSBURG.

I asked about size and haven't received a response. It looks like it may possibly be smaller than my size (56-58 cm 22-23 inches)... Does anyone else think it looks about my size? If it were just a little bit closer, I would bid without even being concerned about the size. But, this is a 4 to 5 hour round trip for me (which I might take if the someone can confirm that the size looks about right).

I have seen people here guess pretty closely at bike sizes from pictures... do your best!

lotek 07-20-06 10:25 AM

looks like a 53/54 to me (thats approx what I ride so
I kind of have a feel for it) headtube looks rather short.
Not bad a current selling price.

heck for less than $50 you can't go wrong.

Little Darwin 07-20-06 10:33 AM

Yeah, if it was closer, or the price of gas were lower, I wouldn't even hesitate... But, I am not in the position right now to go through that effort if I am not pretty confident it is my size.

Too bad, because it looks like this one might slip by...

Thanks for the second opinion, even if it is not what I wanted to hear. :)

cuda2k 07-20-06 12:40 PM

I agree w/ Marty on the size estimate. Looks smaller than 56

Little Darwin 07-21-06 12:39 PM

I don't think Campagnolo made bikes, but this could be interesting. Two bikes. One a Huffy, one a Campagnolo.

If someone wants me to check on anything about this since it is local, just let me know. If the seller can't take a good pic, or seems lost, I can spend a little time in service to any BFN member that wants me to check it out (assuming we can arrange a face to face with the seller). No finder's fee, your pleasure, if you get it, is enough. :D And pics of the completed project posted here of course.

http://cgi.ebay.com/Lot-of-2-Old-Ant...QQcmdZViewItem

EDIT: I also would be willing to pick the bikes up and drop them somewhere to be shipped if you locate a shop near by that would do that... (I'll ask my LBS, Around Town Bikes, if they will do it, and if so, a cost. But, any others you can check almost as easily as I can)

EDIT: I decided to bid $30 for the bikes, because if nobody else wants them that bad, I will surely find $30 worth of something on the bikes... Please don't feel bad if you outbid me, I just don't want a bike with Campy ending up in the land fill. I also want you to know that it will cost you more than $30 to win the auction. :)

It's poorly described too... like what campy parts does it have? Sometimes these are the good finds though.. due to the poor descriptions and pictures you get a deal.

BobHufford 07-22-06 05:41 PM

This is an unusual component choice, but is just looks so good!

dgregory,

You might just get yourself a "Find of the Day" deal there. With local pickup only and Huffy being the main "attraction" to the auction your $30 or so might stand. The blue bike looks decent but also looks pretty tall. Good luck.

It does look too tall for me, but I figured why not gamble that there might be at least one component worth the drive. I am afraid that Campagnolo may attract attention, but the fact that Campagnolo has different levels makes me hopeful that nobody will consider it worth asking a question. I am avoiding asking anything to keep it off the radar... I would hate to lose it if I was the only one to ask, and find out it is a sought after gruppo.

If nothing else, if I win I hope to have something interesting in the For Tade thread. :D
