Well, not necessarily a numbskull, but you have to admire this seller's gumption and marketing savvy:

Nevermind the bike; I wanna see a picture of him and his 3' tall girlfriend. I bet she's always got her nose in his business...

This one just kind of cracked me up: http://boston.craigslist.org/bik/140994652.html
Somehow the image of a whole team of kids riding those banana seat bikes seems like a bad '70s after-school movie. Neal |
I nominate this one for numbskull buyer of the day:
http://boston.craigslist.org/bik/141340683.html She doesn't want a crappy bike, but she's not willing to pay more than $50. Who was it who said, "You get what you pay for"? Neal |

http://cgi.ebay.com/Superb-Rare-Hand...QQcmdZViewItem it's great how the bike likes to hang out on the sofa...and get it's photo taken ("here we see the rare 'Road Ace' in its natural environment...if we are very still, we just might be able to capture it on film...") |

Neal "good light bike that they can race in a couple weeks" I suspect they are first time triathletes as there is a large amature triathlon at University of BC each spring, but even if they know nothing about bikes how can they be a triathlete and be completely oblivious to the most important part of 1/3 of the race? But anyway here is my numbskull of the day: http://vancouver.craigslist.org/bik/141808249.html, I don't think this bike would have retailed for that price originally! Honestly, it's worth half that at best. Guess you can't blame people for trying but my conscience would get the better of me on this one. I could even sell an italian binanchi with full triomphe, all original (down to the tires and pads, this thing seriouly had under 100km on it), columbus frame in a 58cm for that price on CL. |
Numbskull buyer of the day. http://cgi.ebay.com/CAMPY-Centaur-10...QQcmdZViewItem
Note that this has no skewer or lock ring. The seller also admits it came from a wheel that was tacoed. Brand new, with a skewer and lock ring, this cost $120-$130 retail. |

Quite possibly the best Craigslist entry I've ever seen. Although, the author is someone I would regard as a marketing genious and that this is a work of wonderful fiction!
Sorry it doesn't fit the criteria of "numbskull" - but this is great! http://boston.craigslist.org/bik/140780162.html |
This guy has a lot to say....I don't understand most of it, but it is a lot.

http://seattle.craigslist.org/bik/142656870.html I got a laugh out of this though: "EMAILS ARE BIG TIME WASTERS - I GET TONS OF EMAILS ASKING GOOFY QUESTIONS AND JUST DON`T HAVE THE TIME REQUIRED TO PROPERLY RESPOND WITH A GOOFY ANSWER" -Kurt |

Who knows, maybe this is an orange XO-1 for $40, but the seller's ad copy leaves something to be desired. You think the bike needs a new chain? And I'm a big fan of those Shamanino parts:
