moto id help
hey all,...hope all is well. its been a while since i was on the computer, but i wanted to ask a question. the other day i found a motobeccane grand tour all original and good shape at a thrift store. they wanted 70.00 bucks but i talked them down to 20.00. currently its at my buddies place because i have no room for it among my pug,...3 schwinn light weights ...and a old sears 3 speed cruiser. i have never owned a moto before, so i am not familier with the id codes....can anyone help me learn how to date this bike ? its in excellent condition...just needs time to true it and tune it ... thanks to any who help...james

If it's a late '70s or early '80s it'll have a Japanese crankset -- SR, I believe; there'll be date codes on the back sides of the crank arms. Also on the stem.
You're gonna love it. I've got a '77 GT; they're great bikes. You paid too much though -- I got mine for $10 at a yard sale.

ha ha ha ...paid too much hugh !!! well from what i remember it had malliard hubs with quick realeases .. do not remember seein a date. the crankset is stronglight... i remember that. it had some nice toe clips..an italia leather saddle...huret deraillers and shifters....the whole thing is sweet and blimish free. the specialized tires someone put on it are like new even though i know they are at least 20 yrs old. what i thought was cool was that it had all european parts on it. most bikes i find in places like this even if they are european, have had japanese parts on them... after all ...suntour and shimano were better and cheaper than their french competitors back in the day. all in all ....20 bucks on a 400.00 dollar bike at least when it was new....not to shabby of a deal..
...thanks all i'll put some pics on here when i can.. james
