It was flagged and deleted on CL, not here. Sometimes there are people that take offense to a posting on CL for unknown reasons, and the ad gets deleted.
It happened to me once on a routine "for sale" ad. I had no idea why, reposted, and sold the bike. CL is funny like that - there ae a lot of little nazi's floating around........

This looks almost identical to a bike I have that I thought was a 68, but I was just comparing it to the pic and the specs in the catalog posted in Retroraleighs.com. Of course, if it is Dutch built, they might have done it differently in different years. Check out the link.
https://retroraleighs.com/grand-prix.html
I never could figure out the date codes, just dense, I guess.

Picked up this Miyata Ninety a couple days ago for $15. Fenders were pretty tore up and chain was broken, but otherwise a very solid bike. A total of 9 refelectors were removed in the process.

I finally got around to cleaning up that Roold mixte I found a while back. It is a cheap French bike - French parts throughout, and the signature red label crappy RD hanging off the back. It looked intact, but when I removed the chain the jockey wheels fell apart like lepers on a tilt-o-whirl. I replaced it with a low-level Shimano RD that I salvaged off a Magna, and it works great.
It cleaned up pretty well, and only needed the RD, tires, and the usuall cleaning/adjusting. Now, off to CL to delight the local coeds.

[QUOTE=infinityeye;4854937]Here is (I think) a 1972 raleigh Grand Prix The bottom bracket has 06 72 (made by phillips of england) and the rear wheel is a flip flop hub. The is also a sticker license from 1972 and a made by gazelle sticker on the bike. Has them wrapped seat stays too! Paint is awsome, those dutch know how to paint!

Oh yes, my Brother! I had one of those and sold it at a fundraiser for a friend. Only now do I know that it was the sweetest steel ride I've ever had. Enjoy yourself thoroughly!

Well, the Roold mixte didn't last long - it was snapped up by a gushing little UCSF coed this morning. Net up, a bike I snagged of CL that was in the local neighborhood. A low-level Fuji SP-100 hybrid bike with 700c tires and 18 speeds. It cost me $25, and it needed new tires, new grips, a spoke, and some adjustments. It cleaned up very well, and will be going up for sale momentarily.
Take a look:

Sold this Fuji S12 (now 10 speed). I took the rack and superbe pro FD/RD set off and replaced with Suntour AR. New tires and tape; repacked BB, added San Marco suede saddle & saddle bag. The forks are fully chromed but I didn't get around to stripping them. I rode it on my work commute as I do all bikes within my size range. Not bad. It sold within 3 hours of posting after I replaced the metal cage pedals (SPDs were for my commute)

Pretty good day, although nothing to write home about. Found a saddle I can use, A Raleigh MTB carcass with bullmoose bars and assorted other parts I can use, and a Shimano 600 arabesque RD in acceptable shape. Total? $20.

I got a Fuji folder today for $35, I wish I had the pics off craigs list, apparently had laid on its side for a year, one side is red, the other is faded to a pinkish white. But I think a black rattle can job, nashbar moustache bars and some slicks and it will be a good airplane bike.

Hi guys,
Just scored what I think is a great deal. It's an older Cinelli steel frame that has been upfit with modern components. Mixed emotions on that - but it is all good stuff. Except for the Campy brakes, it is all DuraAce, Ultegra and 105.
Thing is, the frame has been (poorly) repainted - just slathered it on all over it. Fortunately, the identifier 'Cinelli SC Made in Italy' is stamped/forged in the bottom bracket. Any idea how I can ID what frame this is? Or maybe I just have a Cinelli bottom bracket
Regards

It's a trek elance 400 that I bought on ebay locally and it only cost be $20, he even delivered it.
It isn't in the best condition, there's a dent right behind the bottom bracket, the front lugs are dinged a bunch, and the paint isn't great but nothing that should affect the ride. The frame has a 60cm seat tube measurement.

Fuji S12 (10)
Nice looking Fuji Robtown. Sounds like you and I do the same things with our finds. If they don't fit or we see a profit potential, the bike is ours temporarily for refurbishing and a quick flip. I like to ride my flips as well. A good shakedown to see how they ride and to spot any potential problems.
I'm sure whoever got that Fuji is proud of it. It's a good-lookin' bike!
Rick

Picked up a nice 58 cm Biancha "Limited". All 600. Black with Red. $50 dollars? I couldn't buy the cages for that.

1988 Trek 400, red, Excellent condition. paint has 1 chip on underside of top tube. Found at a garage sale for $20. I've taken it completely down and re-lubed the entire set of mechanisms except the bottom bracket. It's in the shop now for a few tasks I didn't have the tools for and I get it back Thursday. Sadly, the wheels will have to be replaced if I intend to keep it for any length of time. Mechanic at the bike shop says it;s a very low mileage bike. Previous owner confirms it was garage kept its entire life and has spent most days collecting dust.
The size is right and in a few days, this little darling is finally going to get a chance to take to the road.

Picked up a Cannondale Adventure 400 for $50. Not sure the age, but it's pre suspension fork. Overall a nice bike, that ended up in the hands of an incompetent owner. Yep, as with 95% of the bikes I've found in the last six months, the wheels were tightened by using the QR levers as wrenches. I swear there should be mandatory training before you're allowed to have a QR equipped bike. Failure would result in receiving a 1990 Roadmaster MTB until you pass, lol!,,,,BD
It's getting scavenged to build my Shogun touring bike. It has really nice wheels, with Weinmann double walls.

How bout the near miss of the day. I didn't think this warranted its own thread:
met a wrench on a party bike last week who said a regular old rich racer guy was selling a track bike a "p... ponleeyani or something...". "Pogliaghi?", I asked. "Yeah, that's it". The wrench told me it'd probably be too small, and if he passed on it, I'd have first crack.
I call today, am told the bike is "tiny", like a 55. I guess I'm a tiny fellow, because that's my size. He tells me he bought the bike, is keeping the cranks, and will sell me the rest for $200. I bust my butt down to the shop, trying to ignore the warm tingly feelings down below.
I get to the shop, find out it's not a Pog after all, that the racer guy wasn't planning on ever selling his Pog. Still, it's a nice frame - Nervex lugs, good paint, twin plate fork crown, French campy bb. Stronglight hs. No decals, or headbadge, but still a damn fine frame.
As it happens, the old racer guy was in the store at the time, and made the wrench promise to either keep the bike or sell it back. Oh, and he didn't want to sell the wheels.
So no Pog, no track frame, for now. just a wasted trip and a stupid waiting game.
old bike guys drive me nuts. I know another old racer who'd quite off his rocker that has 2 Team Canada Pogliaghi track frames raced in the 1976 Olympics sitting on top of a cardboard box in his hallway. One of which is in my size. He won't budge either.

Here's a cute little ice-blue 4130 Univega mixte frame set (calling East Hill!) I picked up a while back, and am just getting around to building out. I had to pay $35 for what you see in the pic, plus a set of Araya 27" wheels and a seat post. ALL the bearings needed to be cleaned out and re-greased/adjusted - BB, headset, and wheels. Also, the RD was missing enough bits to warrant replacement (too bad, it was a nice ARx), and the brake calipers needed a few parts (pinch bolts and adjuster barrels). the wheels were out of true and almost locked up, but the Shimano hubs rebuilt very nicely and I was able to get the wheels acceptably true in fairly short order.
I have everything I need in my parts bin to finish this out, so other than labor I'll only be out $35 when it is complete - but I've already spent about 2 hours on it as you see it.....
