You should send everyone 73 cents, you bum. How about you trade me that one for all the ratty beasts you have in my garage. I'm gonna sell them all soon if you don't clear them out of here.

P.S. -- Those Universal 61 brakes were early to mid 1960's issue per the Classic Rendezvous site via the Universal link.

Found this in the trash a few days ago:

New tires, bartape, quick wash, oil & tuneup. That's it...

Rides around rather nicely.
Just one bug, someone screwed it with a kick stand, it seems:

Oh well.

No Tios, you have it all wrong. Send me the Legnano and you can keep the change. Then I'll feel better!! all kidding aside, my first "real" bicycle was a 1961 or '62 Legnano very similar to yours. $110.00 out the door. Can almost pay that much for the Headbadge now. Good luck.

Nope. Just another shack that prices their bikes accordingly and fairly on condition from what I've found. Thrift Towns don't produce many bikes for me.

scored some velox bar end plugs for 50 cents today. They're hard to find in my neck of the woods.

Also, my LBS has a decent black Turbo for 10 bones. I don't need it, but I'd pick it up for anyone who needs it. pm me if interested in a pickup for parts or some green stuff.

Here is mine from today. I spent way more than I normally do only because I am thinking of keeping it. I don't have a touring bike yet. 1990 Schwinn Voyageur made from DB Tange #2. Sakae triple crank and Suntour 7 speed XCE accushift f/r derailluer and Barcon shifters. Nitto Technomic stem (way short) and some random bars, Blackburn Mountain rack on the rear, two water bottle cages (has another set of brazeons for a third cage), Vetta computer (needs battery?), Cateye headlight (works!!), Shimano SPD pedals (and size 10 shoes with SPD cleats), and Diacompe aero brake levers and Canti brakes. The only thing I see it really needs is a good cleaning and some new tubes. When I put it in my work truck (yes I got paid to buy this bike) I had to do a panic stop so I scrapped up the seat and took a little black of one of the barcon shifters. Damn ambulance. I paid $90 for it. I might spend a bit and get a longer Technomic stem and I want to try a set of the Nitto noodles so this would be a perfect candidate for them.

Sweet! I like how the rack and bottle cages match the decals. I might have to try that.

This is my first pay off from watching the garage sale ads up on CL. One owner 1985 Schwinn Paramount with Dura Ace cranks, bottom bracket, pedals and brakes, Sante Deraillers, Mavic Hubs/Campy Rims, Cinelli bars. The stem had been replaced, but he included a bad of parts that included the original Cinelli stem, an additonal longer reach Cinelli stem, NOS Dura Ace bottom bracket, another set of Cinelli handle bars, 2 new 700x20 Specialized tires and a pump.

A few more pictures are located here:

If anyone is in the market let me know because the bike is just too large for me. Wish it were my size because it rides really nice.

Not bad for $200.00

Yeah - I didn't really think so because the price was so good. But the price tag looked familiar.

I haven't been hitting the local thrifts for a while now. I was down in L.A. a week or so ago, and came across a nice Fuji mixte for $24. Since I had flown down, I had to pass on it.

I did manage pick up a couple of small rigid mtbs off of CL a bit ago and moved them along pretty quick, and I got rid of that blue/silver Guerciotti I bought back in October. It was a nice bike but I never really used it, so away it went.

Yeah, Thrift Towns tend to have higher prices on anything with 2 wheels. Thank goodness for the independent shops!

I wouldn't even dare THINK about picking up another bike at the TT by mswantak. I know I'm being watched when I drive into the parking lot and I don't think I could get a bike into my car without feeling guilty. And if I did it would just be The Great Escape all over again! I got the third degree when I brought home the gold Raleigh Sports 3 speed a while back and that was the last TT bike for me! They had some real gems in there 3 weeks or so ago from what I remember and I think I saw that Puch. Black or grey and it had "PROJECT" written all over it? The local TT by me doesn't produce anything except Free Spirits and Roadmasters. I did get a nice Brooks B72 there once though...

Hey retyred, if the deal goes down like that I'm not sure if I will feel as good though! I had to drop it off at my storage and I haven't had the time to examine it much yet. Chrome should clean up nicely but the paint condition tells me it's going to need a bit of work. Remember anything else about your early 60's Legnano? This one has a TTT stem and TTT "TOURIST" handlebars on it and I think steel San Remo 27 x 1 1/4" rims. I do have the front derailleur cage for it as well but it was tied onto the seatpost and I had to take it off to get it into my car and I pocketed it. Thats some interesting lever action going on there with that front derailleur.

Hello Tios. Rather than you trying to decipher my long winded reminiscing go to fattiretrading.com and click on 1961 and 1962 Legnano. You'll see a picture of the Gran Premio (my model) and the Roma (top of the line, $180.00) plus specs. I am now leaning more towards early/mid 60's after I checked my Ebay notes and found two Super Sports claiming to be of 1962 vintage. Check the chainwheel for a date stamp. Oh, I probably shouldn't tell you this but one of them sold for $663.00!!! It did have Campi dropouts, but the wheels had "no name" hubs with Simplex skewers. Hope I made your day!

Hit the flea market today. Another nice $20 bike for flipping. It's only dirty and needs tires and grips, cables too of course. Fits me, but I have a LOT of bikes that fit me now. Specialized hard rock Cruz. Does anyone know the HR hierarchy? I've had a sport, now I find a "cruz"? What's the difference between Hard Rock models?,,,,BD

Yes I'm going back tomorrow, for sure. Never know what they might have.....

My COTD Prelude from a few weeks ago, looks WAY better now!! All aero'd out, still haven't taken it out on the road yet, though. Those are Gran Compe levers I believe? Stripped the blackness off of them with a dremel wire brush. That was the easy part. Next came 400/800/1000 grit hand sanding and polishing. They came out pretty nice. I still want white wrap, but knowing me it would get filthy just from the installation alone, lol.,,,,BD

OFG, that is a sweet DeRosa. NICE score!!

The cranks, also sanded and polished.... Labor intensive, but worth it IMHO.

A classic maybe, not vintage. I scored a 1998 Cannondale R500 for 45 bucks at a garage sale today. Strange, instead of R500 badging it has 'Butterfield & Robinson'. I thought B&R didn't sell their bikes.

I think you need to start charging your brother some storage fees .

And you've filled TIOS with the desire to obtain his own Paramount, too. We will need to see photos of the two Paramounts together eventually.

Nothing at the flea market today, and nothing but a Trek 720 multitrack at the thrift store. But, at the
thrift store I found a older style Selle Bassano pebble grain road saddle for 97 cents with tax. One of my
seatless bikes will be ridable again.,,,,BD

I passed on the 720, since it was a 26 inch bike with 24 inch xmart wheels. A shame, someone
would have loved it.....

I got a Rand (Ross) full suspension MTB with Shimano SIS rear and Sram shifters for $20. The tread isn't even worn on the tires, and it goes over the stumps in my yard wonderfully. It is a little small for me, but I will find something to do with it or flip it.
