Mavic cantis? Could you mean MAFAC?

Here's my 1984 Velo Sport Everest, passed down from my Dad. I restored it this year as it was showing its age. Work done: new Sanyo headlight and chainstay mounted generator; new myrrical mirror; Brooks B66 leather seat; Honjo 45 mm Le Paon Randonneur fenders; stock Weinmann concave rims 36h front 40h rear; VO Adjustable cantilever shoes with squeal-free pads; converted to Suntour bar end shifters from downtube shifters; 27 x 1 1/4 (32 mm) Continental Hardshell Gatorskins; Diacompe brake levers with safety levers; Shimano spd pedals; Axiom Lasalle panniers; Shimano MF-ZH30 6SPD 14-34 Megarange freewheel and SRAM PC850 6/7/8 chain; Polar S520 heartrate monitor with speed and cadence sensors; Cateye Strada cadence cycle computer.

I still have the original SR SP-11 Eleven pedals. I'm thinking I should go back to these to keep the bike more authentic. Any opinions?

84 Motobecane Grand Touring

$80 CL find, swapped the steel 27 inch wheels out for some FIR 700c tubulars I had with Campy hubs and a new Brooks seat - 24.5 lbs as it sits. Really firm ride, stable, might want to put the touring racks on it one day and go wandering.

My '82 Univega Gran Turismo. Bought for $40.00 off C-list in awful shape. Bike had been barely ridden. It was obvious from the weathering patterns that it had been stored in a backyard under the eaves in the dirt. Saw one in the local bike shop back in the early eighties and wanted this amazing machine with THREE gears on the front for a total of 15 speeds and the mind-blowing high-tech brakes. I was young.

Bought a set of rims from a Peugeot for $25.00. Ordered a B-17, Jagwire cable set, and Koolstop pads. Had the frame powdercoated. The rest was just clean-n-lube. Great all around bike, a bit heavy, but I can ride it all day in plush comfort. Bike now has Crank Bros pedals and a front rack, same one that jish1969 has one his bike. It is utt-bugly.

Here's a bianchi randonneur I've had for a while and have finally returned it to a decent state of repair and mostly period-correct parts... I was gonna put v-brakes on the thing before I saw the light. The wheels that were on it when I got were a mismatched set with ruined rims so I just grabbed some cr-18s from a shop... it's too big for me, unfortunately, but I sure do like looking at it. I still need another set of yellow canti pads for the back but I think it's ready to go otherwise. I have ridden it a few times with the saddle slammed and it's a nice rider... dunno if I can bring myself to leave the matching blackburn racks and bottle cage on it if I ever do get around to selling it.

Man, oh man. Nice bikes. Wherever did you score those two "reach-around" front racks? I've been looking for one of those forever. Original to the bikes I bet?

Just got the bar tape in today. Its a sad day when local shops dont stock tan tape. Bought this as a frame/fork and went from there.

Toe clips are the last piece of the puzzle.

It still needs all manner of little tweaks like fender lines and whatnot, and those red pads have got to go as well, but it's still lovely in its mostly-complete state. The tires are NOS panaracer pasaleas that claim to be 28mm but seem narrower than that, never have measured them. The racks I found at the co-op and weren't with the bike but seem to be made for it.

My 1984 Lotus Odyssey. The saddle looks like it's pointing down slightly but it looks fine in person. Strange.
The outer ring is a Shimano BioPace just because I wanted to try one out.

That is a truly lovely bike. 57 cm you say... and it's too big? Damn. That's exactly the same seat tube length as my BRC tourer (currently under reconstruction) and all the angles look pretty similar....

Red pads - I don't know, if they're Kool Stop you might want to keep them. I've yet to find anything else that works as well on wet rims, especially chromed ones.

They are just plain red pads, the much-vaunted "salmon" pads are actually a different shade of red... more of a rust colour, I guess they put more rust in the salmon ones?

Specialized Touring pedals! Excellent pedals. Skip the toe clips and put a set of PowerGrips on 'em. You'll be surprised how much you like that combo.

After this winter of bike fiddling, these are the final results.

Upgraded the 1972 Paramount P15-9 with 700c wheels set with 7-speed freewheel, Campy Rally RD with Schwinn approved Suntour barcons. (Not shown in this photo, but I'm using a Selle Anatomica Titanico X saddle now and it is terrific.) Been really racking the miles on this bike. She is completely dialed-in.

And the 1981 Super LeTour has numerous upgrades.
Suntour Superbe Pro derailleurs
Shifters - Rivendell bar-end (bar cons)
Phil Wood sealed bearing BB
Freewheel - Shimano 6-speed 13~28
Dia Compe AERO brake levers
Alexrims 700C wheel-set - Bontrager Race lite 700x23 tires
Planet bike fender set
Selle Anatomica Titanico X saddle
