In my daily perusal of some internet sales sites I stumbled across
a bike I'm not quite sure of.
Did Peugeot market an aero model with tubes similiar to the
Cinelli Laser ?
I don't know why I even looked at this one, it's dusty and looks too
large for me. However it caught my eye.
It isn't something we've discussed here (yes I searched archives) so
I wondered if any of you francophiles had any ideas

I'd post pics but you can't link the photo's, can't right click on them.
I'll figure out a way and then post pics (they aren't that good either).

Yes, they did. While i'm not familiar with the cinelli Peugeot made a PH12 model from 1982-1984. First debuting in 1982 as the 100th aniversary centenary model to celebrate Peugeot 100th anniversary of producing bikes. 1983 and '84 model were virtualy unchanged but had slightly different nomencature to differentiate them from the '82 model. They are made with a version of Peugeots egendary cabo 103 tubing called 'carboprofile' 103.

The U.K had a similar model as well as a PH12 and PH 'turbo'.

The Japanese created a couple of 'Aero' bikes designed around Shimano's AX group from '80-82 with funky-shaped Tange tubing. I have an Araya version of that. In my opinion, it is nothing but a fancy Huffy Aerowind (albiet 1/3 the weight).

Maybe the Peugeot thought that there was some sort of niche left after the Japanese had all but abandoned the 'Aero' marketing strategy with what appears to be a half-assed attempt.

Oh so wrong in so many ways. Aside from the PX10 this model has kept its value better than any other Peugeot. Examples in mint condition have sold for over $650 while examples that have been left in the garage for 25 years have sold for $250.

It wasnt about a 'niche'. It was about making an anniversary model unique and affordable to all. You know how much I wanted a red anniversary Schwinn with the gold fork? It was way out of my price range!! AFAIK this is the first Peugeot to have Japanese components!!!

RK..it may be heavy but remember this was relatively entry lever racer at an entry level price. For 1982 24.9 lbs aint too bad!!! In '82 a PXN10 with butted Reynolds tubing was 22.7 a PKN10 with reynolds butted was 24.3. Lookning at it from that perspective it was only .6lbs heavier!!!

I'd still rather have a PX10.
