Hey guys, I'm sure the question I'm about to ask has been answered somewhere among the 4000 posts in this thread, but I can't seem to find it, so here it is...
I'm looking to convert my 7 speed, DT shifting Miyata 1400A to STS type shifters, and was wondering which ones are compatible? The bike is equipped with a Shimano 105 group and I'm going to leave the 7 speed alone.
I'm guessing the stock derailleurs would be fine, and I would only need the shifters, cable stops and cables to make this conversion. Anything else?
Thanks ahead of time!

Too much? I might actually be leaning in the direction of "it's too much" myself. However, I do like the attention I get while riding it, as well as the ride Upgraded from a Kinlin/Record wheelset and 7800 dt-shifters to 7800 STI and H+Son/Superlight courtesy of Bike Hub Store. Really enjoying STI so far. It was a bit frustrating at first to tune everything and experiment with spacers (since there seemed to be competing thoughts on the internet on how many you need and where to put them), but the time and effort has paid off. The ease of shifting and increase in number of cogs has made the riding experience very enjoyable. I won't say that it's better than friction, but I notice myself shifting more often and on sections that I would have previously just gritted my teeth and put in more effort. Definitely recommend.
PS, for anyone wondering: I didn't notice any increase in drivetrain sound from replacing the plastic jockey wheels with sealed bearing aluminum ones. I had read about this phenomenon many times in other threads all over the internet--but my rear derailleur is just as quiet as it was before.

One day I would love to try this out. I am still a novice at rebuilding but some day... I have a Schwinn Super Le tour 12.2 waiting for just this treatment.

Just curious, what 'spacers' are you referring to here? At first I thought you meant headset spacers, but it's a quill stem...

Campy yolo!
Miele azsora, ishiwata 022 frame, campy 8sp mirage, campy zonda 16r wheelset. I imagine this is the bike that miele would have built in the late 90s, if they, and ishiwata, were still around.

I have two road bikes with downtube shifters. In both bikes i use the same wheels with 9 speeds cassete. The wheels is came with aluminum cannondale R300 road bike i buy. The other bike is steel Bianchi strada lx. The wheels from the cannondlae is fit on the bianchi. I not have respased the dropouts. I pull the dropouts with my hands is little hard to do that. But the wheel fit okay finally. I want put brifters on my both bikes. What parts i have to replace for i make the brifters is working?

Ya....... So in my wheelbuilding haste I forgot that my hub was 10/11, not 8/9/10, so tuning was very, very strange for a while. Then I figured it out.

^^^ Hot. A minimal build done well. But you're supposed to line up the tire label with the valve stems

Not 5/7/5 syllables. Also, should mention nature in some comparison

As if I know haiku from Budokhan....
My favorite lines are from songs, anyway, i.e. "Put another chair on the fire; bring a bottle over here...I think I'm catchin' pneumonia."
OK, OK, I'll try it.

Smooth stratus, gliding forward.
