Oh man, it's been years and years since this bike. I couldn't tell you, but it was probably just the standard Shimano ones. I don't recall there being any fit issues. Is your Peugeot from the same era?

I was inspired by canyoneagle's Zullo and put some 11 speed bits on the Marinoni to tide me over until I get a new frame. |
^^^ Don't feel bad if you keep all those parts on that thing. It looks great! Lotta Marinoni fans around here, including myself.
jjames1452 all that 'humble' (but NOS!) 9-speed 105 looks perfectly at home on that Mercian! Beautiful bike! |
Yep, another Ironman Abomination from RobbieTunes' house of horrors.
Almost hard to say, but this is a budget build in today's terms. https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...8626a8bc3c.jpg Campy Bullet wheels (11-sp Shimano/SRAM hub) 5800 drivetrain, R565 compact crankset Carbon saddle/stem from China, re-used bars |

BTW, I'm finding I hate these segmented drop bars so far (Deda Newton). My other road bikes have all had traditional round drop bars that I've found difficult to use at my age, and I thought I would try these slightly more shallow "anatomic bars". No good. The bottoms of the drops are too short, and the "kinks" in the curves always seem to be in the wrong place for my hands. I may play with the angle again to see if I can find something more comfortable, but I'm not liking it so far. I think I'll swap them out for some more shallow rounded bars. Maybe something like a Fizik Cyrano Bull or the 3T Ergosum Pro.
Along with some of the other suggestions, consider the Deda bars with RHM (Rapid Hand Movement) spec. That's what I have on my bike in this thread, and I really like the short reach to the drops. |

Hard to find with 99% of riders spending 99% of their time on the hoods. Buggers. |
May have put these here already but not sure so what the heck. Both came to me already "upgraded", it's all good, would have bought them either way. Pretty sure they were done by the same guru who actually worked for Merz at some point.

hey guys.. i'm interested in throwing a modern 130mm 9 or 10 speed road wheel into a vintage, 80's, 126mm spaced road frame... is there anything to it? i read sheldon's site about cold setting, but i think i'd rather not do that if i can just squeeze the frame apart and put the wheel in without too much trouble... is there any hiccups i should watch out for? i won't need to redish the wheel will I? <scared face>
will a crazy new external bottom bracket crankset work on an old frame, like the new shimano 10 speed cranks? i figure as long as it's 68mm english it's fine... oh.. also... do modern brake calipers mount on 80's road frames? has that changed a whole lot? I have a 91 Ochsner steel, 126mm steel bike. Original 6 speed 105 with Mavic MA2 wheels. I am now using 9 speed Rigida wheel with 130 spacing and I have not done the cold setting to the frame. It is pretty easy to spread the stays apart by hand to get the wheel on and off. It is the bike I use for just jumping on and riding. The only issue that has been a bit bothersome is that the QRs have to be tightened really tight or the axle will slip in the drops and cause me to stop to reset it. Since I have been using more force on the QRs it has not been a problem. I have seen no issues, as of yet, from that. |
I've never cold set a frame. Dozens of 126 frames to 130 wheelsets, and only a couple of skinned knuckles, knock on wood. Once you've done a rear wheels swap a few times, it's pretty straightforward. Lift and separate. I think I saw that on TV when I was younger.

Tell us the story behind this acquisition. Was it a CL find?
He was asking 375.00, I got him down to 350.00. Guy said I was the only person who asked about the bike. It was a joy to research and source some decent parts for the bike. It was my first campy build and it is a joy to ride. |

I had gotten bit by the vintage bug over the summer and have been searching FB market constantly and clicked on anything with a quill stem. Saw this picture and had no clue what a Pogliaghi was. After some quick googling, I contacted the seller and scheduled a time to go see the bike. I knew it didn’t have tires, so I brought along a set of wheels with 8 speed cassette on it and some tools to test ride it. Owner had some issues with the front brifter working consistently so he put the downtube shifter on. Unfortunately he has misplaced the original brake levers and right downtube shifter (25 years of moving around). He was asking 375.00, I got him down to 350.00.
