Bikes: Many. Ralieigh sports`s, Raleigh Superbe, sears Spaceliner, Firestone supercruisers, many vintage mountain bikes, random cruisers, and other unique bikes.

I rescued a Raleigh Grand Prix that was frozen under a roof, the freezing rain made the bike pure ice lol. it has a nice rack and a bottle cage too! i'll post pics when I can get em bikes in pretty good condition besides flat tires and lots of ice.

It's in the background on the lift... the hood is up almost parallel with the seat tube.

I guess the attention to details only extends to bikes around here

Granted, I don't think I can ID the car in the foreground.

Looks like a Mazda with after-market hood, fenders, and rear view mirrors

What man, who couldn't be more than two years older than me, deserves to get called "old"?

Nice job on the re-do.

Yeah - don't think it's a 'vette. The nose is too squared off, and I don't see the headlight bubbles.

EDIT: I take that back - could be an '86 or so, but the side fender light clear/amber is reversed......

Heres the Raleigh. looks low end but it does have alloy rims? lol

Well after all that freezing rain it seems my winter beater is not enjoying it. tires frozen in the ground. lots of ice was cleaned off it, the whole bike looked like it was made of ice. This bike was also built out of bicycles saved from the dump!

Bikes: 1962 Rudge Sports, 1971 Raleigh Super Course, 1971 Raleigh Pro Track, 1974 Raleigh International, 1975 Viscount Fixie, 1982 McLean, 1996 Lemond (Ti), 2002 Burley Zydeco tandem

Yesterday, somone gave me two extremely neglected low-end bikes. I'm not even sure accepting them was wise. I hope to provide pictures soon.

One is an Atala Corsa from approximately 1975. Plain carbon steel frame, steel rims, plastic Simplex derailleurs, solid nutted wheel axles, and brake calipers that look like Universals with the Atala name stamped on them. The calipers may make the bike worthwhile.

The other is an Astra five speed from about the same year. It has an elegantly styled mixte frame and matching fenders. Nothing on the frame appears to be salvageable except that if the headset is French-threaded, it -- or its individual parts -- could prove useful. The frame might make an interesting rebuild, though it would be a ground-up rebuild.

tough crowd! For the record, any photo I post has been taken at someone else's house with their junk in the background...except, of course, the pictures with scenic backgrounds!

I've got that same Grand Prix set up as my daily commuter. I changed the brakes to newer dual pivot calipers, put on some full black fenders, upright bars, a milk crate on the rack, a more comfortable saddle, and a post-moderne suspension seatpost. It's not pretty, but it's sturdy, reliable, and in great mechanical order. I love it.

Damn, you caught me.

The "homeless bedroom" as you called it, is actually just where I tore open the box the bike was packed in. The garage isn't mine per-se, but I do have unlimited access to it -- one of the advantages of being in the military...you get to use some pretty cool facilities for nothin'

A great way to cap off the year, I just found this 1960 (built 1/15/60 according to the serial # if I'm reading it correctly...A019340) Schwinn Continental.

I believe it's supposed to have the wing-nut style quick release (anyone got some to spare?) and I don't know if the rear derailleur would be correct (I am guessing not) + the rear rim is aluminum, not steel...otherwise, besides some scratches, it's all there & should clean up pretty nicely. I love the front shifter.

sorry for the cel phone pics...i'll replace these very soon.

Nice score! The original rear derailleur was a Simplex Tour de France. Most of them were replaced by Huret Allvits (a possible recall?). I don't recall seeing these with wingnuts.

Here is the 1961 catalog scan:

Wow, that's great detail...thanks. Pictures (as is) coming tomorrow (er, today, that is). It's a Simplex RD, but I was guessing a bit newer maybe. The saddle is a plastic "Grand Prix" so I assume the original got lost some time in the last 50 years. Pretty good shape for a 50 year old bike, though...with air in the tires I could have probably ridden it home. One thing that's interesting to me is that in that catalog, it looks like the fork is bent (I'm not kidding, btw). I thought when I had the bike on the roof of my car the fork looked bent, but looking at that catalog picture it looks the same. Maybe it's just an illusion with the frame angles? It's interesting frame geometry...can't wait to take it for a spin!

Raleigh Grand Prix, a CL find a couple weeks ago. As found minus cables and bar tape. Has the sweet Suntour/Raleigh drivetrain.

OK...got some better pix of the Continental. I should start a thread on it with more pix so I don't eat up more space here. I have a question about the rear derailleur anyway...whether it's the original, that is. For now, here's a few better pix:

You appear to have a '70s era Simplex Prestige (delrin/plastic) version on there now. The original would have been a (late '50s?) Simplex Tour de France.

Expensive when you can find them ...
