I'm new here an thought posting my "scores" would be a good way to say hi.
I'm new at this collecting and fixing up old bikes, but in the last 2 months here is what I have gotten.....
60's Hawthorne 3 speed cruiser...in decent shape once it was cleaned up. Paid $15 at thrift store.
84 Nishiki Royal in excellent condition. chrome molybdenum frame alloy rims and other parts. It just needed cleaned and new tires. Paid $5 at thrift store.
Peugeot UE-18 mixte in near perfect shape. This is my baby, the perfect bike for me. Paid $15 at thrift store
and the other day I got at Schwinn Continental for $5 at a thrift store. It needs some work, but is in decent shape.

Lol! We have a Goodwill warehouse where everything is sold in bins by the pound and anything too big is priced super low. Most adult bikes are between 5-15 and some kids bikes are like 2 bucks. A lot of the bikes are junk, but if you know what you're looking for you can find some great ones. I think that most of the thrift stores around here just don't know what they have....they price kids Magna bikes for $50, but nice vintage "fixer-uppers" for dirt cheap.

Bikes: I used to have many. And I Will again.
Welcome to C&V! I think you'll enjoy it here.
Congrats on some great finds. I wish such deals are available in my area.
The Nishiki is quite nice, it has double water bottle cage mounts on the down tube! The Peugeot mixte is killer! I've been searching for a candidate for my wife forever.

I went to Yellow Bike and worked for about 3 hours fixing bikes and stripping junkers. Came home with a 1977 Raleigh 10 speed, way to big for me, a 65cm frame. All Raleigh badged components except for rear deraileur, Wright leather saddle in good condition and barend shifters, these are the two parts I will use on my 83 Trek. Will aso save the tires Schwinn 27x1 1/8, like new, on aliminum rims.
The rest will go in my parts box for sale or trade.

Picked up a 1960 Raleigh Sport 3 speed while dropping off the carcass of a dreadful Honda Racing department store mountain bike (worst bike I have pulled from the trash, well ever -- brand new with a destroyed rear wheel and not one useful part) at the recycling center. It is really rough, but it is all there save for the tire pump. No pictures yet.

Well, I picked up two garage sale bikes. One is a nice Peugeot mixte (198 P18T), the other is a really basic Schwinn women's MTB. Both came with nice frame pumps, the Schwinn came with four extra tubes. And neither will require much work before they move on. The Schwinn does have some crazy rear brake cable routing. They didn't bother stopping the housing at the cable stops. OUCH. I'll have to sort that out.
I really need to drop some inventory. It figures, I moved one bike this week, then added two. At least I passed on a third bike at a garage sale today.

Found another bike today, for $20 at the thrift store. wondering if you can help me with the date and model.
It's a Chicago Schwinn World. On one dropout it says 421141 on the other side it says GO484 It is made in Taiwan. The crank says Custom.

Looked on the headbadge and it has a small scratch (smaller than the other numbers), not sure if it is supposed to be a number that just didn't get stamped right or not, then it says 144.
Any idea on the model? I did a little googling an there are a few "world" road bikes.
This one has Shimano gears.

Caught one last weekend, and one this weekend.
Bummer with the nishiki, I was adjusting the rear derailleur and the reflector came off and dented and bent the chainstay a little bit, and broke 3 spokes! I rarely see or catch in my size so it was disappointing. It is 4130 but has steel wheels. Rides like a tank, it might become my new townie.
Scored a trek roadie with campy hubs I haven't IDed and a suntour superbe crankset and brakes, cinelli bars and stem.
Photo uploading has changed and once I figure it out I will post pics.

Found this one Monday or Tuesday at a pawn shop, while delivering parts for work. I thought I should go look at it, because even at 50 yards, I could
tell the frame was DEFINITELY not a magna, hehe. I pulled up and said to myself "Nice bike, bet they want an arm and a.....WTH??"
The tag said $49 and change. I parked thinking it was a typo, but sure enough.. So with a guaranty(AL frame after all) and tax, I rolled it
out the door for $60... I know, not C OR V, but $60?? Worth mentioning to me anyway, hehe. I added the Oury's and Avitar bar ends after
a quick not so thorough bath. Needs cables, and a little brake work, but... I believe it to be an "Enforcement" police model, given the no
model number/name.,,,,BD

. I am going to buy some panniers(If I can afford them?) and use it as my commuter. Needs some fenders though, if I can findsome that will fit? Something tells me it's a lost cause, since it has no "braze" ons for them.,,,,BD
Maybe some Small Block 8 tires, and forget the fender idea? These tires grip nicely though. Not a single traction incident on the way home....

Bikedued, I'm sure I don't need to tell you that was a crazy good deal for a pawn shop, even the most clueless shops around here recognize Cannondale and overprice them accordingly. They must have been eager to get rid of it for some reason...
