Just picked up this Nishiki Prestige + 2 Brand new Kenda tires and 2 Michelin tubes an hour ago for $30! For sure my deal of the month!

Super snag on the Nishiki, Funkflex! Those Kawamura bikes are really excellent riders! .. . BTW, that Vetta saddle is an especially comfortable saddle - well worth the price - all by itself.

BluesDaddy 06-09-10 09:18 PM

Aaahhhh!!! The Trek and Nishiki are my size! Why can't I stumble upon some 60cm screamin' deals??

mkeller234 06-09-10 09:55 PM

I picked up a Schwinn Voyageur 11.8 today, it was my first buy in a long while. It seems like a decent overall bike, the condition is just ok though.

divineAndbright 06-09-10 10:21 PM

Someone is trying to sell a Nishiki in my area that looks to be the exact same size as that one above in this thread, same tubing but with cyclone mk2 derailleurs, sugino crank with factory drilled rings, non aero brake levers. The guy selling it is not asking a lot by any means but I'd have no use for it being so big and I dont think I'd be able to mail the frame within post office size restrictions (also I think I spotted a little dent in the top tube, eek)! The only parts I feel are worthy is the cyclone stuff, but 75$ can probably buy you a few sets elsewhere!

Yea I'm loving it so far! A few hours later I pulled this Schwinn Prelude for $40. It was a good day!

I'd say so !

noglider 06-10-10 06:45 AM

Did Kawamura make those Japanese Schwinns? I flipped a Prelude. The ride was incredible.

My catch of the day happened a week or two ago: I scored a pair of retrofriction shifters for $31 plus $6 shipping. I think I got such a good ending bid because the listing was full of misspellings, so it missed a lot of people's searches. So I guess the moral is that if you want to get a good selling price, good spelling pays off.

I dont know if this is 'saved from the dump" or if I'm just moving 100 lbs of the dump into my yard.
.
This was in a pile of junk behind the trailer at a garage sale. Free, of course.

Don't those catches come in runs of three?

funkflex 06-10-10 12:53 PM

Well, I did pick up a Centurion LeMans a few days earlier. Let's not jinx the streak! haha Let the good times roll!

michael k 06-10-10 03:01 PM

Picked a Schwinn Super Sport and a Raleigh Super Course (531)on the way to work.

The rims on the Raleigh are a wierd gold/bronze pewter anadized color and WOW! the Super Sport is twice as heavy.

No, Prelude was made in Mississippi. My Schwinn Prologue was made in Japan by National. Many of the Asian Schwinns were made by Giant in Taiwan.

Kawamura made Nishikis. Not sure what other brands they made.

Good catch on the retrofriction!

Panasonic built most of them in the 70's including the 12.2 Super Letour and the 11.8 Voyager. Mid 80's some were coming from Giant like the World sport.

Ok, some of you guys are going to hate me for this one... ;)

I've always wanted to post in this thread but never thought I had something worthy of showing off.. but now I do. Yesterday I snagged a certain dream bike of mine: a 1975 Schwinn Paramount P-13.

(Almost) everything on it is original. In great condition. Some slight surface rust on the chrome and some of the components, a few nicks in the paint here and there, but nothing that can't be taken care of. The brake hoods and seat are the only parts in poor condition that I'll probably take the time to replace w/ correct replacements. I want to keep this thing as original as possible and only use the correct parts.

Anyways, I got it for an absolute steal. I'm still in shock at picking this one up. Here's some pics!

Very nice. And it's red, so you'll go fast.

What's that stuffed in the rear derailleur attachment bolt?

So you're going to ride tubulars?

I like the large flange hubs.

What kind of handlebar wrap is that?

douchebagonwhlz 06-10-10 10:17 PM

I'd figure out how to do tubulars for that ride. nice job.

You have to LOVE those chrome lugs - and how !

emarg0ed 06-10-10 11:04 PM

Definitely going to go w/ tubulars for this one. I've never had a bike with them, so I'm kind of excited about the prospect.

Ah, very true.... but my camera died. No problem, my new camera came in the mail today so I can test it out and take some pictures of the Schwinn.

BobHufford 06-11-10 06:35 AM

I'm glad to see that you snagged the Paramount (and that it is not my size). About the best looking $150 Paramount that I've run across!

Congrats!
