[QUOTE=FORDSVTPARTS;12361085]I snagged this 1979 Super Grand Prix Nottingham built bike off Craigslist today, It obviously needs some love but it should be a great bike when done.
$25.00 and it's my size, fits me better than my current SGP :) Barcons alone are worth $50. I passed a 27" 1984 SGP a few years ago and still regret it. |

Though the Dump did not offer any bikes, today, the wonderful pitch away place did cough up something wealy nice! A...
Set of Mavic Module E 27" x 1 1/4" almost mint rims, laced to an equally nice set of Shimano 600 six speed cassette hubs, complete with the cassette. The hoops were clad with new Specialized 27" x 1". And... A second set of wheels, this time Campy Nouvo Tipo high flange, laced to Super Champion tubular rims, once again nearly mint and sporting a nice set of environmentally challenged tubulars. But no freewheel. And... Another of Campy hubs laced to an unknown set of late model tubular rims, again with good tires, still pressurized. And... A set of Suntace(?) Bullhorn handlebars, fitted with 1993 Dia Comp inverse brake levers. Just one more item needed for this year's Junk Bike - a vintage unknown Specialized something or other in banged up condition... http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=193726 http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=193727 http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=193728 And, no, I did not find the Specialized at the Dump. Some thief got his hands on it before I did. |
Old Shed Man, you make me sick. You also make me proud. Lol.

Have you ever found any actual junk at the dump? - Or is it all just high end bikes and stuff - and big wads of unmarked small bills? :innocent: |
Randy - Have you ever found any actual junk at the dump? Kidding aside, I built a pressure treated deck, at my summer cottage, with 2 x 10s salvaged from the Dump, near my cottage. I found a guitar with a lot of strings on it, one day. The guitar started with the letter M and my son-in-law, a very nice guy, got the instrument. He is a very creative guy, and he told me that it was a very good guitar, worth far more than I would have expected. I have also found brand new bicycles, brand new mattresses, boxes full of old hockey, baseball, football and other cards that came with pieces of gum, I guess. I have found one flint lock rifle, which I promptly turned over to someone else, who collects that sort of thing. Antique wood cabinets, tables and chairs in great shape. Vintage sewing machines. Boats. Motorcycles. And... One Spring, during Free Dumping Week, while manning the site for six days straight, a fellow came over to me and asked if he could borrow a Robertson #2 screw driver. I didn't have one, but took a look at the screws, realizing that a straight blade would do the trick. I helped him pull the license plate, on his home made, hydraulic lift, utility trailer. Immediately after, he signed over the ownerships and handed them to me. Told me I could have the trailer, if I wanted it, and thanked me for his screwing. I gave the trailer to the first guy who came in and wanted it. The trailer got towed away, with-in the first couple of hours. And I just remember what junk is - the stuff I take to the Dump:-) |

Don't know? What does it look like? And what would I do with it?

I would love to spend my days digging through an enormous treasure trove such as you describe. Lol. |

They were asking $65 and I talked him down to $40. I aslo picked up a box of 150 CDs for $20. After ripping them I have already shipped about 50 of tehm on SwapaCD.com. It was a good yard sale day. I plan on cleaning up the Gary Fisher (it's is mechanically very sound, just a little dirty) and then selling it on craigslist. Still researching what price I should ask.

Nice deals. It is amazing sometimes the CD buys out there. I found CDs for 5 cents each, ended buying about 200 of them at a sale last year. Lots of quirky music (hey, it was Asheville, NC).
Great deal on that GF. As far as what to sell it for, on C/L, all markets are local. Watch the action on your C/L for a while, back it up with a search on jaxed and ebay completed auctions, and go for it. In my area, I do not get ebay type pricing. You should take a look at SwapaCD. It is a pretty easy way to unload your CDs. If you don't what to use the credits for other CDs, you can always sell the credits for about $2.50 on their CD Bazaar forum. I have been rotating my music through there for a couple of years now. |

I looked for this thread before I made my own. I guess I was too tired and missed it.
Found a 1980 Fuji Sports 12 at the dumpster behind my apartment complex the other day, with all the original components (Minus seat and seatpost) plus some addons. It needs some love, but I'll be able to clean it up fairly well, I think. Comes with Suntour derailers and shifters, steel Sugino crank, Dia Compe brakes and levers, Nitto bars and stem. http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=194259 |

After almost one year (for lack of time) I've cleaned up and made some changes to the bike I've brought back to the road.
Here is the before and after. The bike is a Liberati (bicycle maker in Rome, Italy) and I love the way it rides. hope you like it http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=194304http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=194303http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=194302 |

Picked this bike up off Craigslist while I was back home in Houston for Spring Break. Happened to be a couple neighborhoods over. Price? $30.
It's exactly my size! My plan is to convert it to SS or fixed and be my campus beater. If anyone has any details of what year and model this bike is, that'd be great! The frame is in excellent condition and will definitely clean up well. It has Shimano shifters and derailleurs. Maillard Helicomatic rear freewheel hub. Weinmann centerpull calipers and 27" wheels. Serial # Y5C7 39343. http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=194328http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=194329http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=194330http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=194331 Sorry for the low quality iPhone 2g pics! |
Everything but the Shimano shifters seems to look like 1984 P8.
http://cyclespeugeot.com/images/1984...H10L_P8_P6.jpg FYI - I have an 83 PH10S which I enjoy. |

Just picked this up from my neighbor as he was throwing it in the dumpster. All it needs is new tires and cables.

I would love to find that in the trash, instead of the more likely Huffy 'gem' that I occasionally stumble upon.
