Your Catch of the Day / Saved from the Dump!
#6101
Here are two bikes I picked up this weekend. I know they are low end, but not much out there. And with the Schwinn World Tourist costing $10.00 and the Centurion costing $20.00 I could not pass on them. After a complete tear down on the Centurion I have a total of only $38.00 in it, including the price I paid for the bike. I am currently working on the Schwinn for kicks and giggles. Will repaint to original sky blue and replace the essentials. Will be a fun project bringing it back to original and will not cost much at all.[IMG]

I met up with BF member Scozim at the annual Seattle bike sawp meet yesterday. He brought along this frame(and fork and crank, not pictured). The seat post was mildly stuck, only needing a couple of minutes of bench vise work. Thanks again Scott

Nice catch on the Boardwalk. That is Dahon's entry level bike, but still made quite well and very nimble to ride. Welcome to the Fold!

Bikes: I used to have many. And I Will again.
Had a 'Catch of the Day' this morning. Although not C&V, and probably a relative catch on a personal value level, I thought I did well on increasingly costlier Campy aluminum parts.
First is a $75 pair of Campy Record/Mavic Open Pro wheels with a Record 10-spd cassette. 32H hubs front and rear, with Serfas Seca 23mm blue clinchers. There is a small dent in the rear rim though, and I feel some roughness in the bearings of the rear hub. I don't recall how to disassemble these hubs, so its forensics will have to wait.
Second is the rest of the stuff in the photo...a Record triple crank, Italian Record triple BB, a pair of Look ARC pedals, and a 3ttt stem. Oh the Pinarello souvenir was gratis.
Also $75.
A nice fellow was parting out his friend's bike. Friend was struck by a car, and it snapped the seatstays and twisted the seat tube. Poor bike and friend. Poor me also, as I missed out on more Record goodies that got sold.
I'm going to need a Campy spline tool!

Typical thrift store riding gear find. I picked up a sweet Cannondale jacket, in my size, along with a like new Hincapie jersey (not my size). I have found a lot of riding gear over the years at thrift stores.

Picked this up for $75 off Philly CL."73 Schwinn World Voyageur in Kool Lemon. Dirty but its all there. You don't often see Dura Ace and rubber block pedals together very often.........

The serial# indicates '85, but this Cdale may have been sold as an '86. The pic makes it look in better shape then it really is. Lots of paint bubbling on frame. I found a PCer in my area that has experience with AL.
Question: Did anyone ever find a place to replace the covering on saddle. This Profil would still be nice and I may try doing it myself.

Recently moved a Motobecane out of my garage and then this one shows up. A guy at an estate sale pulled it out of the bushes and called it a rusted piece of junk. But aren't they all? 75 Grand Jubile. At least brake hoods don't rust...

Whoa curbtender! Great find! (I have one just like it) - I hope your Huret Jubile DRs are not all mangled. A very worthy project in any case.

Everything has a light tarnish to it, but the post are free (see seatpost). The Derailuers look ok.

Picked up a couple of two nice bikes and a frame in the last couple of weeks:

Jeunet 631
Reynolds 531 tubing
Mavic tubular rims
TA cranks
Unfortunately, the previous owner screwed on some clipless pedals into the french threaded crank arms...
Will replace with Mafac levers and centerpulls

Bottecchia Deluxe
typical Italian bike boom ride, but it's got some charm

Gorgeous 1998 GT Course
Reynolds 853 makes it super lightweight
plan to build it up with Campagnolo 8 speed ergo groupset

I picked up a tore up Turbo saddle on eBay that probably would've ended up in the dump if I didn't buy it (only bidder). I finally got around to recovering it with natural tan cowhide. I used a scrap piece of the old leather as a rail ornament.

WOW!! Yet another World Voyageur pops up!! If mine
was a 25 inch, I'd still have it! It did bring in $450 plus
shipping without even trying too hard, however? Nice
to know the rare non Paramount Schwinns have a following!,,,,BD
VERY nice job on that Turbo!! I rescued a really
nice Vetta from a Nishiki Prestige. I need
to recover it, and find it a nice home(on one
of my bikes, naturally)
