Probably could get a couple of snake skin rim liners out of that little fella's hide. :D

Yesterday I picked up this ~1997 schwinn passage for the girlfriend. 7 speed RSX, mavic deep section rims. Wiped it down and added a saddle + bar tape:

Yep sti. It actually shifts really well and the triple is nice for her. Also interestingly the two larger chainrings are compact gearing. It has a close (for 7 speeds) ratio 11-23 cassette so the gearing works out really well. It's not the lightest thing, around 23lbs but the frame seems well made and it definitely looks nice. Has rack eyelets everywhere but the geometry seems fairly tight. Interesting bike that I never knew existed until yesterday.

It sure is nice to look at but I already put it on craigslist for $195 and someone bought it within 24hrs. It was a 56cm frame and I ride a 62cm... was way too cramped. The seat was terrible, the bars were too narrow, and the rear derailleur sucked.

My newest misfit is a 1983 Randor Galaxy which is also a 56cm... seems to be no information on the internet for this one.

Randor ugh! I bought one of those "accidentally" when I responded to a craigslist ad for a $5 bike with a blurry photo. I said "I'll definitely take it, I'm on my way" and raced over to find... A Randor.

Mine was even lower on the food chain than yours, it had a one-piece crank and no lugs, 26x1-3/8" wheels, rubbish brakes. It made a Free Spirit look good...

Sorry but 23 pounds IS still light for 1997? Those old solid aluminum STI's weigh a pound on their own, so in reality it is probably just over 22 pounds with DT shifters. A 2011 aluminum Allez with a carbon fork with plasticky STI's weighs 23 pounds. A bike that is not the lightest thing from the eighties would be around 25-27 pounds. So, a touring bike from the nineties that weighs 23 pounds, is pretty light, IMHO.:D,,,BD

This probably doesnt rate C&V, but it's early 90s so I'll throw it in anyhow. I bought this for the parts. I think it might be a 94 Edge Zap(due to the 'Mavic equipped' decals, but it could be just an aluminum Edge(which was Dura ace equipped. It has a mix of Tricolor and 7400/7410 DA. I will keep the DA stuff and probably sell the frame/fork. It should polish up pretty nice.

Here is what I found out by the trash this morning. I was at 28 miles of a 31 mile ride when I found it. I'm sure I was one heck of a site while riding one bike one handed while holding the other by the stem. It made for a good workout.

It is some sort of Schwinn. It is way to big for me. It has a 25in frame. I normally ride 54-56cm bikes. More than likely I'm going to use this for parts to upgrade my Centurion.

Picked these up with a Grand Prix the other day. I was super pumped. Actually, I was more excited about the literature than the bike.

This was a garage sale snag. It is in real nice condition. The only thing I had to do was clean the crud off of the white hoods and adjust the front derailleur. It is now my Wifes bike.

$100

It pairs up pretty good with my bike.

^ lurvely panisonic

picked up a maroon Nishiki Century today for $25.. haven't looked over it carefully but the paint looks almost flawless and i dont even think it needs any work. it's pretty heavy and got steel wheels but at least no cottered cranks

it's too hot right this second to go back outside and get it out of the car for a picture

I picked this Crestline Tandem bike up yesterday. It needs new tires, but everything else works good. I guess I'll have to try it out with my wife before I move it to someone else. I think she was more interested in trying one out before I bought this than I was.

I got this "Rust-Bucket" for $15.00. Just cleaned it up and replaced a few parts. It was a shame that the generator and lights were too badly rusted to salvage. But it runs right nice now.

Hi guys been lurking on these forums for bike advice and had to join (be easy on this newb please). However I picked up this bike for free from someone at my works mailing list. It's my first road bike and I was looking for something local and I saw the email (she didn't include pics) but when I looked at it I was quite impressed.
Anyhow here it is: Trek 2300 Pro
http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5074/...aa494ff2df.jpg

The carbon is just fine, I check the lugs and it seems to be strong. Has the shimano 600 brakes and gearset. excellent condition in my opinion.

damn nice bike for free especially! love the neon

You can check around bikepedia for the correct year on this link to get the specs ... http://bikepedia.com/QuickBike/BikeS...2300&Type=bike

This ain't your average free bike ... a rusty Sears 5-speed, or a rusty Huffy mountain bike. It was about $1,500 back in the '90s! Sweet bike! Hope everything is in order on it. You should have asked if they had any old low-mileage BMW, Lexus or Infinity cars they were looking to give away for free also. ;) Or, maybe you did! :thumb:

Ha , nice bike. Hope it fits...

Nice bike Keenerz, and an even better price...

I picked up the same model just a few weeks ago. Your bike is a 1991 model(only year that color was available.
